Student answer (Band 4.5)
This is the best way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartments block. I agree with this statement because in cities we don't have much more space to build house seperately. We have alot of other shops and resturants in the cities. People from different areas can move to different cities they have alot of reasons to shift to larger cities. Most people can come to larger cities because they want to give qaulity education to their children. They have limited budget to afford the big houses. They always prefer appartments because it can be available in low budget. They also get security in the appartment. A suitable parking can be very helpful for them. They can get a furnished apartment in reasonable price. We can save a lot space by building tall apartments because a large number of people can live in one tall apartment block. It can be very useful because in the larger cities most of the companies have their offices. A large number of people can work in these offices. The employers come from other city can not live in a Big house. They always prefer apartments and rooms. The tall apartment block can be very helpful for them. In my experience i can see a lot of people from same city can also prefer to live in apartment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
Your position is clear: you agree that tall apartment blocks can help provide homes, and you give relevant reasons, including limited urban space, affordability, security and proximity to workplaces. However, these points are mostly listed rather than explained or supported with a specific example, so the response only partially develops the task. The opening sentence also repeats the prompt awkwardly, and the discussion does not consider any limitation or alternative to high-rise housing. The response is 214 words, which is 36 words below the 250-word minimum; 14 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. To strengthen your response, develop two or three reasons with explanations or examples and make your position more fully supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The ideas are generally relevant and there is a basic progression from the lack of space to residents’ needs and then the benefits of apartment blocks. However, the response is presented as one long paragraph, so the reader cannot easily distinguish the main points or follow a developed argument. Many sentences begin with “They” or “The,” and links between ideas are often implied rather than made clear. For example, the move from education to security and parking feels like a list, rather than a connected explanation. Use separate paragraphs for your main reasons, and connect each point explicitly—for instance, explain how limited land makes high-rise construction a practical solution before moving to affordability.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “tall apartment block,” “limited budget,” “quality education” and “security.” However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “cities,” “people,” “apartment” and “prefer.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, such as “seperately,” “alot,” “resturants,” “qaulity” and “appartments.” Some expressions are imprecise or unnatural, including “save a lot space” and “available in low budget.” These do not prevent the reader from understanding your position, but they reduce precision. Aim to use accurate collocations and vary repeated terms, such as “urban housing,” “residents” and “affordable accommodation.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
Most sentences use simple patterns, and the reader can usually understand the intended meaning. There are attempts to connect clauses, as in “People from different areas can move to different cities they have alot of reasons to shift,” but this construction needs a conjunction or punctuation to join the ideas correctly. Other recurring problems include missing or incorrect articles and plurals (“build house,” “a large number of people can live in one tall apartment block”) and awkward sentence structure in the opening: “This is the best way … is to build.” Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in “i” and “Big.” These errors sometimes make the reader pause. Practise accurate sentence boundaries and article use, then add a few controlled complex sentences to explain cause and effect.
