Student answer (Band 6.0)

The great way to deliver more residance to citizens in the large cities is to build the higher rise buildings. I completely agree with the statement because high rise blocks are much effective way to provide enough homes. In this essay we are going to discuss about the advatages of building apartment blocks for people to give them homes in the large cities.

On the one hand, if we discuss about the apartment living it is much convenient for the people who are living in the larger cities. I believe that the facilities are higher in the apartment residance over house residance. For example, resources like water, electricity and others are more availble in the apartment living. Moreover, it is also safer to live in the apartment for small femilies like husband wife if they are both the job holders.

On the other hand, if we talk about the cost of home and the apartment it is much cheaper to buy an apartment over the house. Considering the factor of living cost also in the large cities. For instance, purchasing a house in a major city can be extremely expensive, whereas buying an apartment is often a more economical option. Additionally, apartments usually require less maintenance, which can help residents reduce their overall living expenses. As a result, apartment buildings can make housing more accessible to people with limited incomes.

In conclusion, I strongly agree that constructing high-rise buildings is an effective solution to the housing shortage in large cities. Apartments not only provide accommodation for more people in a limited area but also offer convenience, safety, and affordability. Therefore, governments should encourage the construction of well-designed apartment buildings to meet the growing housing needs of urban populations.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction (“I completely agree”) and is maintained in the conclusion. You give relevant reasons, including convenience, safety, lower purchase costs and reduced maintenance, and the example comparing a city house with an apartment helps explain affordability. This addresses the task, but the discussion is uneven: the first body paragraph focuses mainly on benefits to residents rather than explaining how high-rise construction provides enough homes, and the claims about utilities and safety are asserted rather than supported. To strengthen the response, explain the central housing-capacity argument more directly—for example, how building upwards accommodates more households on limited urban land—and develop each reason with a specific explanation or example. The conclusion is clear, though it largely repeats earlier points rather than adding a final insight.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting related benefits, and a conclusion. The reader can follow the main line of argument, and signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the paragraph roles apparent. However, these transitions feel somewhat formulaic, and the first two body paragraphs do not establish a particularly clear contrast because both support the same position. Some links between ideas are also abrupt: “Considering the factor of living cost also in the large cities” is a fragment-like transition rather than a complete connection to the preceding point. Use more precise links that show cause and effect, and organise each paragraph around one main claim followed by explanation and evidence. This would make progression smoother and referencing clearer.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of housing vocabulary, including “high-rise buildings,” “housing shortage,” “limited area,” “maintenance,” and “urban populations.” These choices help communicate the topic, and phrases such as “more economical option” are appropriate. However, several spelling errors and inaccurate or unnatural word choices reduce precision, including “residance,” “advatages,” “availble,” and “femilies.” Some collocations are also awkward, such as “deliver more residance” and “apartment residance.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations and check spelling carefully; for example, use “provide more housing” rather than “deliver more residance.” A broader set of precise terms for density, land use and housing supply would also help you explain the central argument more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including conditional clauses (“if we discuss…”) and a comparison with “whereas.” Most of the meaning remains clear, and the final paragraph is generally controlled. Some grammatical errors and awkward constructions remain, however. For example, “the facilities are higher” does not form a clear comparison, and “Considering the factor of living cost also in the large cities” is not a complete sentence. The opening also has article and number problems in “the higher rise buildings.” Practise building complete sentences around each main idea, and check articles, plurals and comparative structures. More accurate complex sentences would let you explain how high-rise development increases housing capacity without making the reader work to interpret the point.
