Student answer (Band 6.0)
Building of tall aparment blocks, in this contemporary commercial landscape, is a matter of considerable debate. While some people in our society discourage this practice, I firmly believe that this practice should be encouraged by the government as it is the best way to provide homes to many people at moderate prices.
The first and foremost reason why I support this idea is that there is not much space available in our urban areas nowadays. Towns and cities are densely populated and the people in the rural areas find it difficut to shift into the crowded cities. Secondly, if tall apartment blocks are built in the city centers, there will be more space and rooms availble fore the people in a small area which will be very beneficial for the society and the government as well. Moreover, such tall appartment blocks also have less rents as compared to the single storey buildings in the modern areas.
However, the supporters of the opposite view thought that this is totally a wrong trend to build tall buildings. They claim that by constructing such models people find it difficult to reach ground floor and they sometimes prefer to spend their free time in their rooms because of the challange they face while moving from their higher floor to grond floor. Moreover, there is less social coordination in the tall building apartments as peoplr donot get chance to meet their neighbours.
In conclusion, although some people are opposing this idea, I am in complate support of this practice and the government should also take steps to improve it

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the introduction: you support tall apartment blocks as the best way to provide homes, and you return to this view in the conclusion. You give relevant reasons, including limited urban space and potentially lower rents, and you acknowledge opposing concerns about access and neighbourly contact. This addresses the main parts of the question. However, some points are asserted rather than explained: for example, the claim that high-rise buildings create “more space and rooms” and have lower rents would be stronger with a clear explanation or a specific example. The counterargument is also described but not fully weighed against your position. Develop these ideas further to make the argument more convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting the proposal, a paragraph presenting objections, and a conclusion. The progression from your reasons to the opposing view is easy to follow, and signposts such as “Secondly,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. This is a coherent arrangement, though some linking is mechanical because several points are introduced with similar additive transitions. The relationship between ideas could also be made clearer; for instance, explain how the limited space in cities leads specifically to high-rise housing being preferable. Use referencing more precisely and connect each example or explanation directly to the claim it supports.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “densely populated,” “urban areas,” “social coordination,” and “moderate prices.” These choices show an attempt to use more formal and topic-specific language. However, several spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural combinations reduce accuracy, such as “aparment,” “availble,” “less rents,” and “social coordination” where a more natural expression would be “social interaction.” Some wording is also vague, including “this practice” and “such models.” Aim for accurate spelling and more natural collocations, and choose precise terms for the housing and community issues you discuss. This will make your ideas clearer and more fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession in “While some people …, I firmly believe…” and a conditional structure beginning “if tall apartment blocks are built…”. Most sentences communicate their main meaning, and the range is suitable for presenting reasons and counterarguments. Some grammatical errors remain, however. For example, “the supporters … thought” shifts awkwardly into the past tense, while “people find it difficult to reach ground floor” is missing an article. The final sentence also needs clearer punctuation and a complete ending. Review tense consistency, articles, and sentence boundaries, while continuing to use complex structures with careful control.
