Student answer (Band 5.5)

In today's world, the population of every country is spreading rapidly specfically in the big cities and the space for houses is not enough to fulfill the needs of every indiviuals because of the high real estate prices. The land in every big city is very expensive and only the rich people can afford that price tags.

In cities like Lahore and Karachi which are the capitals of two different provinces in Pakistan. Both these cities converted its agricultural and industrial lands into housing socities. Karachi is famous for its international warehouses and Lahore is famous for is agricultural producation which will then exports to worldwide but the fast moving of people from small cities and states to these big cities are demolishing the infracture of these cities and these cities are converted into housing socities as different real estate developers and land mafia build homes and commercial markets for thier indiviual benifits and in the result the homes reached far from the purchasing of a normal person.

There is only one solution to resolve this issue, that we should work on the infracture development and the governments should plan for the next 50 to 100 years for these major cities in thier countries as per the demands and build tall buildings rather the indiviual homes because the population is moving horizontally rather then vertically. The best way is to build 100's of meter tall buildings which comprises suits, appartments, gym, resturants, parking, public transport and other benifits as per the demand of thier cities.

The best example we have is the California or London, as both these cities are in developed counties of world and having no residential crises in their histories because they learn the lesson from other countries which face the similar crises as currently Tronto or Perth is bearing and in the result they build tall buildings and inspire the indiviuals to invest or residied in appartments and make assure their nations for the saftey. For every person saftey is the major concern for their homes and if there is better security arrangments and proper infracture for the residents they will automatically move into appartment blocks in these tall buildings.

Another big advantage is that the cities looks very beautiful with tall buildings having glass in thier front elevations which increases the tourists atraction too and a resident can get all the benifits under one roof.

I totally agree with the statement to build tall buildings for appartments and suits to live but there are few concerns to fulfil the requirements for people needs.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you agree that tall apartment buildings are the best response to housing pressure, and you give relevant reasons, including limited urban land, affordability, and the convenience of services within one building. The examples of Lahore and Karachi help explain the pressure created by migration and development. However, some points are asserted rather than demonstrated. The claims that London and California have had “no residential crises” and that tall buildings will make residents feel safe need more precise support, and the discussion of tourism is less directly connected to providing enough homes. To strengthen the response, explain more fully how high-rise housing increases the number of affordable homes and acknowledge a limitation, such as the need for transport and public services to keep pace.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable overall structure: it introduces the housing problem, develops examples and proposed solutions, and ends by restating your agreement. Paragraphs generally group related material, and phrases such as “Another big advantage” signal a new point. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow because several ideas are packed into long sentences, particularly in the paragraph about Lahore and Karachi. Some links are also mechanical or unclear, including “in the result” and “as currently Tronto or Perth is bearing.” The conclusion introduces “few concerns” but does not identify them, which weakens the ending. Use shorter, more focused paragraphs and make each one develop a single reason, with clear links between the claim, explanation, and example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “real estate prices,” “agricultural and industrial lands,” “housing societies,” and “public transport.” These terms help communicate the subject, and you attempt more specific expressions such as “residential crisis” and “security arrangements.” However, spelling errors and inaccurate or unnatural word combinations are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause: examples include “infracture,” “purchasing of a normal person,” and “make assure.” Some words are also repeated, especially “cities,” “build,” and “benefits.” Aim to check spelling carefully, learn common collocations, and vary repeated terms where appropriate. More precise vocabulary would also help distinguish housing affordability, urban density, and infrastructure capacity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with clauses, for example when explaining how migration affects Lahore and Karachi. This gives the response some structural variety, but control is inconsistent: several long sentences contain multiple ideas without clear grammatical boundaries, making relationships between clauses hard to follow. There are also errors in agreement, articles, and verb forms, as in “Both these cities converted its agricultural,” “the cities looks,” and “they build tall buildings” when describing past actions. Sentence boundaries and punctuation need particular attention. Practise dividing long sentences into shorter units, then check that subjects and verbs agree and that tense remains consistent. This would make your ideas easier to understand while preserving your attempts at complex structures.
