Student answer (Band 5.5)

The role of accommodation in urban area has become considerable debate in this contemporary era . To overcome the problem of house shortage ,it is the optimum way to provide enough homes in large cities is to construct high rise bulding and apartment . I partially agree with this view and this essay will discuss both viewsin the upcoming paragraphs .

There are various benefit if tall buldings will build in cities . The most compelling one is save space . In this contemporary era due to population increase many people are not able to build their house in large vacant place in urban area because of limited space Thus it is effective way tall apartment blocks provides accommodate to more families in a smaller area . For example , in Mumbai ,INDIA , high rise apartemnt buldings allow hundreds of families to live in the same area ,helping to reduce house shortage .The another advantage of the high rise building is affordable housing .To embody , there are various flats in one blocks , no ned to buy sperate house thus the cost of housing is reasonable people can easily buy it even thay can easily share the cost of lan d and construction between many members .

On the other hand , there are some disadvantage of tall apartments . The primary one is overcrowding and traffic .when large number of people live in a small area ,existing public amenities may not be sufficent to meed their need .people not enjoy quality of life .as a result , it may lead to huge taffice problem and overcrowding predicaments. For instance , in cities such as Delhi , residence may suffer from heavy traffic during the peak hours because of heavy population density .Another drawback is less green space . To elaborate , densely built residentia area may have fewer green space and playgrouds thus, children living in crowed residential complexes may have limited accessto safe outdoor area where they can play and excercie . Therefore , high rise building should be developed alongside proper transport systems and sufficent green space .

To concude ,although high rise bulding provide various amenties in terms of save space and affordable housing but there negative impact can not be ignored such as trffice and congestion and lack of privacy and green space . I opine that government shoulf builf tall buldings alongside with less taffic and huge greenery .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the question and state a qualified position: “I partially agree.” The advantages of saving space and potentially reducing housing costs are relevant, as are the concerns about traffic, overcrowding and green space. The Mumbai and Delhi examples help make the discussion concrete. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained: for instance, the claim that apartments make housing affordable needs clearer support, and the conclusion introduces “lack of privacy” without developing it in the essay. To strengthen the response, explain more precisely when tall blocks are effective and what conditions—such as transport and services—are needed, then make your final position consistent with that reasoning.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting high-rise housing, a paragraph outlining drawbacks, and a conclusion. Topic sentences such as “There are various benefit” and “On the other hand” signal the direction of each paragraph, while examples generally follow the relevant claims. However, linking is sometimes mechanical, with repeated transitions such as “To elaborate” and “Therefore,” and some sentences run together or are separated by inconsistent punctuation, making relationships between ideas less clear. The conclusion also adds a new concern rather than simply synthesising the discussion. Use fewer formulaic connectors, make sentence boundaries clear, and ensure each paragraph develops one connected line of reasoning.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt topic-specific vocabulary, including “high rise,” “public amenities,” “population density,” and “green space,” and the reader can generally understand your main points. However, the range is limited by repeated wording and noticeable spelling, word-form and collocation errors. Examples include “bulding,” “apartemnt,” “taffice,” and “sufficent”; phrases such as “save space,” “huge greenery,” and “less traffic” are also imprecise or unnatural in context. These errors sometimes make the reader pause, particularly in the conclusion. Build a reliable set of accurate housing and urban-planning expressions, check spelling carefully, and choose collocations that express your intended meaning precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use both simple statements and attempts at complex sentences, including a conditional idea beginning “when large number of people live in a small area” and a result clause introduced by “as a result.” However, control is inconsistent, especially with articles, agreement, verb forms and sentence boundaries. For example, “There are various benefit” needs plural agreement, while “high rise apartment blocks provides” has a subject–verb mismatch. The opening sentence, “The role of accommodation in urban area has become considerable debate,” is also structurally incomplete. Some punctuation errors create run-on sentences, as in the explanation of housing costs. Practise accurate basic sentence patterns first, then extend them with subordinate clauses and check each sentence for a clear subject and verb.
