Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent years, it has been noticed that housing has become more vast and big cities are moving towards creating huge buildings to at a same place to accomodate people, I agree that this approach is more helpful for government to control population, reduce the cost of travelling, healthcare etc.

Many would disagree that the idea of making homes at a single place will make people sick in the big apartments. Poeple won't have enough opportunities of spending their leisure time outside in the gardens, but these large buildings can be provided with medical facilities within them and separate space can be alloted for parks and playgrounds for families to spend free time.

Constructing high towered buildings for housing will help government organize a large amount of individuals at a single place. For example, In the twin cities of pakistan (Islamabad and Rawalpindi) this aproach is very commonly used for houses, student accomodations etc. A single accomodation can cover around 80 to 100 students, which means all can be managed with the same set of rules.

In the large cities, the cost of travelling and healthcare can also be structured precisely, where these buildings can be used for commercials shops at the ground floor so if people have to buy some groceries, food or medicine, they won't need any separate vehicle to travel and get these things. Healthcare in the same buildings will save so much time, as the travelling and management will be made easy.

In conclusion, I strongly agree to the statement that the most suitable way to provide crowded areas with housing is to construct large apartments. This helps population to be managed properly providing so may daily life facilities as well.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you strongly agree that tall apartment buildings are a suitable way to provide housing, and you give relevant reasons involving population management, travel, and access to healthcare and shops. The example of student accommodation in Islamabad and Rawalpindi also helps illustrate how many residents can be housed together. This meets the task well, but the support is uneven: the claim that this approach helps the government “control population” is not clearly explained, and the student-accommodation example does not directly show how tall apartment blocks meet wider housing demand. You acknowledge a concern about limited leisure space and offer parks as a response. To develop the argument further, explain the trade-offs and support each main reason with a more precise example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, the body paragraphs present a counterargument and supporting reasons, and the conclusion restates your position. The ideas generally progress from shared housing and facilities to travel and healthcare. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “Many would disagree” introduces a counterpoint, but the paragraph then shifts quickly to your rebuttal without clearly separating the opposing view from your response. The opening sentence also joins several ideas in a long, difficult-to-follow sequence. Use clearer topic sentences and make the relationship between claims explicit; for instance, signal when you are presenting a concern and when you are answering it. This would make the progression easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “apartment blocks,” “medical facilities,” “parks and playgrounds,” and “cost of travelling.” These choices make your main points understandable. However, the range is limited in places, and several word choices or combinations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “housing has become more vast,” “high towered buildings,” and “structured precisely.” Spelling errors, including “Poeple,” “accomodate,” and “alloted,” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise housing and urban-planning terms, and check common collocations. For example, describe housing demand as increasing, buildings as high-rise, and transport or healthcare services as being planned or provided efficiently. This would make your argument sound more natural and exact.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession followed by a response and clauses beginning with “where” and “as.” Most of the meaning remains understandable, but some sentences contain errors that make the relationships between ideas less clear. The opening sentence is a run-on, with several clauses joined by commas, and “to at a same place” has an incomplete grammatical construction. There are also issues with articles and agreement, as in “at a single place” and “This helps population to be managed.” Use full stops or conjunctions to control long sentences, and check article use and sentence structure when expressing purpose. More consistently accurate complex sentences would strengthen the response.
