Student answer (Band 5.5)
Due to increasing demands of facilities in daily life and to find better opportunities people are moving from rulral ares to cities. As more and more people are arriving in cities, there is increase in demand os new or rental homes. City is congested place and there is not enough space to build homes like in towns or in rural areas. There is at same time increasing demand of commercel places so to manage all this there is need of building tall apartments to overcome the problem.
Tall apartments provide enough space manage number of families rather than only building a single house for one family.
Now a days, apartments are providing all the facilities you have in a house like personal balcony, personal swimming pool if you can afford, car parking facilities and security. Also there are many benefits of living in apartments. You can get there exclusive servies like maintainance and cleaning. Today's apartments are far better than older ones beacuse now you can acess playground, park, beautiful views, shopping store, hospital, school, internet cafe, resturant and grocery store at footsteps.
Appartments are build at commercial location and also at some side areas of city. It is upto you where you want to live and onto your budget. Also many problems in local areas like severage and trash can easily overcome due to proper road map and planning for everthing. So in large cities to overcome homes problem is now vanished to some extents because of tall apartments building.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address the topic and give a generally clear position in favour of tall apartment buildings, especially in the opening and conclusion. Relevant reasons include limited urban space, accommodating more families, and access to shared facilities. These points show a response to the question, but some are asserted rather than explained: for example, the claim that apartments help overcome housing shortages is not supported with a specific example or explanation of how they increase the supply of affordable homes. The discussion of amenities is detailed, but it takes up more space than the central question of whether tall blocks are the best solution. To strengthen the response, develop this comparison and acknowledge a limitation or alternative, such as the need for transport and services or the role of other housing types.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable progression: it introduces urban population growth, describes advantages of apartments, and ends by returning to the housing problem. However, the ideas are presented in large blocks without clear paragraphing, so the shift from space constraints to apartment facilities and then to location and planning is not always easy to follow. Linking phrases such as “Also” and “So” help, but their use is repetitive, and some connections are unclear—for instance, the relationship between commercial locations and solving local problems is not fully explained. Organise the essay into distinct paragraphs, each with one main point, and use more precise transitions to show whether an idea is an example, consequence, or contrast.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “congested,” “commercial,” “security,” and “facilities,” and the range is sufficient to communicate your main ideas. However, word choice and spelling errors are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause: “rulral ares,” “demand os,” “servies,” and “severage” appear in the response. Some phrases are also imprecise or unnatural, such as “at footsteps” and “the homes problem is now vanished.” Repetition of “apartments,” “facilities,” and “cities” limits variety. Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common collocations, and choose more precise expressions for the housing issue, such as “housing shortage” or “residential demand.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a reason clause beginning “As more and more people are arriving in cities” and a sentence explaining that apartments accommodate multiple families. The main meaning is usually recoverable, but errors in sentence construction and grammatical forms are frequent enough to affect clarity. For example, “there is increase in demand” needs an article, while “Tall apartments provide enough space manage number of families” is missing grammatical words and a clear structure. The opening sentence also combines several ideas without a complete, controlled construction. Practise accurate articles, verb patterns, and sentence boundaries; then use complex clauses only when you can maintain control of their grammar.
