Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowadays, people prefers to live in tall apartment blocks because it is very convinient for those who do jobs in offices, companies and other institutions.

There are lot of fascilities and it covers too much space. For those who live alone or students who go out of city for their study can not afford homes, they started to live in an apartment.

So, this helps them to feel safe as compared to a house. Large cities are also very noisy and rushy, all house are gathered together so it is a best way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks. It is very beneficial for the society too because the building will be hieghted and the width of the building reduced.

Tall buildings have some disadvantages too, people have no privacy outside their apartments. The issues of sawage, gas and electricity will increase automatically. I think it is very complicated situation for those who want homes and who needs apartment blocks. People have their own choices what they want and what they need but i think that tall apartment blocks are helpful for those who are working and do jobs, for the students and for those who want to live temporarily.

It should be easier for them and will not be that much crowded and noisy. So, from my prespective it is perfect way to give apartment blocks which will be regarded too.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You address the topic and give a broadly supportive view, especially when you say tall blocks are useful for workers, students and people needing temporary accommodation. You also mention possible drawbacks, including privacy and pressure on utilities. However, the position is not consistently clear: the claim that this is “a best way” is followed by “a very complicated situation” and a conclusion that returns to support without resolving that tension. Most points are asserted rather than explained or illustrated, so the response only partially develops the task. The response is 224 words, below the required 250; 15 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop fewer reasons with explanation and a relevant example, and state your degree of agreement clearly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic overall shape: you introduce apartment living, discuss benefits, acknowledge disadvantages and finish with your view. This gives the reader some sense of direction. However, progression within and between ideas is often unclear. For example, “There are lot of fascilities and it covers too much space” does not clearly connect the facilities to the claim about space, and the long sentence beginning “Large cities are also very noisy” combines several points without showing their relationships. Linking words such as “So” and “but” are used, but they do not consistently clarify the argument, and the conclusion repeats earlier claims rather than drawing them together. Use separate paragraphs for distinct reasons and drawbacks, and connect each point with explicit cause-and-effect or contrast.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “apartment blocks,” “privacy,” “electricity,” and “temporarily,” so the reader can follow the general subject. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling or word-choice errors make parts less clear, such as “convinient,” “fascilities,” “sawage,” and “hieghted.” Some expressions are also imprecise or unnatural, including “rushy,” “covers too much space,” and “the width of the building reduced.” These choices sometimes make it difficult to understand exactly what benefit you mean. Build a more accurate set of phrases for housing and urban planning, and check spelling carefully. Prefer precise expressions such as “high-density housing” or “limited land availability” where they fit your intended meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “because,” “as compared to,” and “who,” which shows some effort to vary sentence forms. However, the range remains limited, and frequent errors in agreement, articles, plurals and sentence construction can make the argument difficult to follow. Examples include “people prefers,” “There are lot of,” “all house are gathered,” and “it is a best way … is to build.” The sentence beginning “Large cities are also very noisy” also joins several ideas without a clear grammatical structure. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and article use, then build longer sentences around one clear main clause. Proofread each sentence to ensure its parts fit together.
