Student answer (Band 5.0)

Accomodations are needed by everyone and it now very necessary for everyone including students and senior citizens as well. Man buildings and houses have been made for housing crisis but the population is increasing at a high speed day by day.

Overall, there are more houses and accomodations required for people to live in a country. I agree that this can be the solution for having a place for people to live but there are many cons of this solution as well like the tall building with huge amount of consumption of electricity and a risk of regular trembling and earthquake.

I agree to the solution that the best way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks this can help many people as they will get a place to live with all amenities and facilities. This solution can be beneficial for some people who wish to live on heights but there are many people who have a phobia or fear from heights.

In my family, Sam went abroad for studying there he found a room at the 30th floor of a building a s a accomodation but there were many problems like there was less pressure of water and power cuts were regular with huge electricity bill. So he decided to change the apartement and he live at 1st floor and there he had no such problems that he faced in the previous apartement.

This can be a temporary solution but not for a longer time and more apartments are needed to be build but not at taller heights.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a clear general position in favour of tall apartment blocks, and you include a relevant personal example about Sam’s experience on the 30th floor. However, the response addresses the question only partially: the disadvantages receive attention, but the case for why high-rise construction is the best way to provide enough homes is not developed with specific explanation or evidence. The example focuses on water pressure, power cuts and cost, rather than showing how this affects the wider housing problem. Your conclusion also shifts towards saying that taller buildings are not suitable long term, leaving your overall position less consistent. The response is one word below the required 250-word minimum; develop the main reasons further and meet the minimum length.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction to a general view, a personal example and a concluding statement. The example is relevant to the point about possible drawbacks, and phrases such as “In my family” help signal it. However, progression between ideas is limited: the second paragraph lists disadvantages, while the next paragraph returns to agreement without clearly resolving that contrast. Linking is also repetitive, particularly the repeated use of “but” and “there are many.” The final sentence introduces a temporary-versus-long-term distinction without preparing it earlier. To improve, organise the body around distinct reasons, use clearer links between claims and examples, and make the conclusion follow directly from the position established in the introduction.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough basic topic vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “housing crisis,” “population,” “electricity” and “earthquake.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “amenities and facilities” and “phobia or fear from heights.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, which can make parts less clear. For example, “a high speed” is not a natural way to describe population growth, and “regular trembling” is unclear in the context of earthquake risk. Spelling errors such as “Accomodations,” “apartement” and “accomodation” are noticeable. Aim for more precise housing-related vocabulary and check spelling and natural word combinations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including a sentence beginning “In my family” that gives a sequence of events and problems. However, the range is limited, and complex sentences are often faulty. Errors in sentence structure, agreement, verb forms and articles occur frequently: “it now very necessary” lacks a verb, “Man buildings” has an incorrect plural form, and “he live at 1st floor” has errors in both verb form and preposition. The sentence beginning “I agree to the solution” also runs several ideas together without clear punctuation. These errors sometimes make the reader work to understand the intended meaning. Practise accurate sentence boundaries and basic verb and article patterns before adding more complex structures.
