Student answer (Band 5.5)
Yes i totally agree with this statement beacuse nowadays mostly people are jobians , they cannot afford a plot than construction cost . First of all, people move fron rural areas to big cities such as cities have big facility of education ,medical ,jobs and many others .So apartment blocks are the best way to build in small area of land and all kind of facilities provide in this building like security, generators, communicating with other peoples ,gym, masjid ,swimming pool and so on.However,high-rise buidings can accomodate more people in limited spaces and improvequality of life.
In addition, citizens send less money on booking and remaining amount will pay on installment plan so they have flexibility to live in large city with easy manageable expenses .
On the other hand ,i do not believe that tall apartments can solve the housing crises because i face many problems in apartments for example there is no privacy of families ,they cannot celebrate their event with whole gathering of love ones, inadequate ventilation, limited outdoor space for childrens .
in conclusion i definately agree that tall apartment buildings are effective way to adress housing shortages in large cities but if goverment should take some steps tp improve high-rise building

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You take a clear position in favour of tall apartment blocks and give relevant reasons, including limited land, migration to cities, affordability through instalments, and access to shared facilities. You also acknowledge disadvantages such as reduced privacy and outdoor space, which shows awareness of another perspective. However, the response addresses the issue only partially: several points are listed rather than explained, and the counterargument is not clearly reconciled with your final agreement. The conclusion’s suggestion that the government should improve high-rise buildings is not developed into a specific solution. The response is 50 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to develop and support your ideas. Explain one or two key reasons in greater depth and include a concrete example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
Your response has a basic overall structure: you introduce your agreement, present supporting points, acknowledge drawbacks, and conclude. Linking phrases such as “First of all,” “In addition,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of your argument. However, progression between ideas is not always clear. The first paragraph combines urban migration, affordability, facilities, and quality of life without showing how each point connects to the main claim. The contrast paragraph also ends without explaining how the disadvantages affect your overall position. Some sentences run together, and punctuation spacing makes the organisation harder to follow. Use separate paragraphs for each main reason, connect examples directly to claims, and make the relationship between your counterargument and conclusion explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “rural areas,” “limited spaces,” “privacy,” “ventilation,” and “housing shortages.” These terms help communicate the main subject, but the range is limited and several word choices, collocations, and spellings are inaccurate or unclear. For example, “jobians” does not convey the intended meaning, “big facility” is an unnatural phrase, and “send less money on booking” is difficult to interpret. Errors such as “buidings,” “accomodate,” and “definately” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise housing-related expressions and check spelling carefully. For instance, you could describe people as “job seekers,” refer to “access to services,” and say that residents “spend less upfront” when explaining the financial advantage.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast introduced by “On the other hand” and a clause beginning “because.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. Examples include “they cannot afford a plot than construction cost,” where the comparison is not grammatically formed, and “remaining amount will pay on installment plan,” which is missing a clear subject and auxiliary structure. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “high-rise buidings can accomodate more people in limited spaces and improvequality of life.” Practise building accurate sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use full stops to separate complete ideas.
