Student answer (Band 6.0)

The optimal method to provide sufficient houses in metropolitan cities is to construct tall residential blocks. I vehemently agree to this statement as construction of apartments reduces space and offers a centralized supply to all the houses.Furthermore, living in apartments substantially increases ones social and emotional well-being as well.

Initially, building tall apartments reduces space compared to individual houses. Metropolitan cities tend to have a hustle and bustle life which is mostly centered in providing area for IT companies and offices, hence it would not facilitate area to construct more houses.Adding on, Apartments mostly has centralized services when it comes to essentials. For instance, in a high raise flat, the water and electricity supply to all the houses would be carried out in basement through pipes and lines. Thus, it would be less frequent to comes across lines of wire passing through the city.

In addition, people in individual houses have chances to move out when their social or self fulfillment needs are not met. Individuals in apartments tend to have a sense of community within them. Through celebrations and events they develop relationships within themselves. This will foster meaningful connections provide security, For instance, children will have friends to play with in routine basis .Apart from social needs, some individuals truely enjoy high raise apartments since the experience of it is phenomenal-wide city overlook, better air ventilation, high altitudes gives people a satisfaction and ease.

To conclude, from a practical and a logical standpoint, providing homes to people by building tall apartments would decrease in space, complexity, also providing self fulfilling benefits.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction: you strongly support tall apartment blocks, and the conclusion returns to this view. You give relevant reasons about using less land and creating a sense of community, with examples such as shared utility infrastructure and children having friends nearby. This addresses the question, but the reasons are not equally developed. The discussion of centralized water and electricity explains service delivery more than how high-rise construction provides enough homes, while the claims about well-being and better ventilation need clearer support. To strengthen the response, explain the housing-capacity benefit directly and acknowledge a limitation or alternative, then develop your examples to show why this is the best approach.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs organised around practical and social benefits, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “Initially,” “In addition,” and “To conclude” help readers follow the main stages. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. “Adding on” repeats the function of the preceding transition, and “This will foster meaningful connections provide security” joins ideas without a clear grammatical or logical link. The paragraph about community also shifts to views, ventilation, and personal satisfaction without showing how these points connect to the central argument. Use fewer formulaic transitions and make each paragraph develop one main reason through a clear explanation and example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “metropolitan,” “centralized supply,” “sense of community,” and “self fulfillment.” These choices show an effort to express ideas beyond basic vocabulary, and the overall meaning is generally understandable. However, several word combinations or forms are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “reduces space” when you mean uses less land, “high raise flat,” and “wide city overlook.” There are also spelling and form issues, including “truely” and “fulfillment” used in a context where a more precise expression would help. Aim for accurate collocations and check spelling; natural phrasing will make your argument clearer and more convincing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple statements and longer sentences with subordinate clauses, for example, “Metropolitan cities tend to have a hustle and bustle life which is mostly centered…” This gives the response some structural variety, and the main ideas can usually be understood. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries. For example, “Apartments mostly has” should use a plural verb, while “in routine basis” needs an article and a different preposition. Several sentences run together or have incomplete links, as in “This will foster meaningful connections provide security,” and punctuation is inconsistent around commas and full stops. Review agreement and sentence boundaries, then proofread longer sentences to ensure each clause is complete and correctly connected.
