Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You take a relevant position in favour of tall apartment buildings and give a basic reason: they can house more people within existing city space. The references to people moving for jobs and to Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad also connect the topic to urban growth. However, the response addresses the question only partially: it does not explain why this is the best way compared with alternatives, such as building outward or improving housing in smaller cities, and the examples are named rather than developed. The response is also 93 words below the required minimum, leaving little room to explain and support your ideas. Develop at least two reasons and make your degree of agreement explicit in a fuller introduction and conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The ideas are broadly related and follow a simple sequence: population growth creates housing needs, and taller buildings could provide more accommodation. This gives the reader a basic line of reasoning. However, the response is presented as one continuous paragraph, so the main position, supporting points and conclusion are not clearly separated. Several links are repetitive or awkward, such as the repeated use of “for this purpose” and “more people,” while the final sentence repeats the point about taller buildings without adding a new step to the argument. Use separate paragraphs for your introduction, reasons and conclusion, and connect each point with clear references and transitions so the progression is easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “population,” “facilities,” “opportunities,” “accommodation” and “existing spaces,” which helps communicate the general subject. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “people,” “cities” and “more.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “samller,” “accomodations,” “appartments” and “builtings,” and some choices are unnatural, such as “safe cities from chaos” and “number of population.” These errors do not prevent the main idea from being understood, but they reduce precision and can make the reader pause. Check spelling carefully and practise accurate collocations for housing and urban growth.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response mainly uses simple statements and attempts a few longer clauses, for example, “when people shift to a new place they need some basic necessities of life.” This communicates a basic sequence of ideas, but the range of sentence structures is limited, and attempts to combine ideas are often inaccurate. Examples include “the population is more,” “cities … includes,” and “buildings which has,” where agreement or sentence construction is faulty. Articles and punctuation are also inconsistent, and several sentences begin with lowercase letters or run together after full stops. Practise forming accurate subject–verb patterns and use a controlled mix of simple and complex sentences. Proofread each sentence for agreement, articles, capitalisation and sentence boundaries.
