Student answer (Band 5.5)

I actually believe building sky scrapers in the populated cities is the only best way to utilize space and to provide enough living apartments to the people of cities.

Almost everyone in this world wants to settle in a space where they have alot of opportunities. Majority of the people migrates to the urban areas for better future ultimately making cities more conjusted than before. So, finding a place to live in a city is more difficult than finding a job, to overcome this issue governments in cities making buildings as much high as they can to facilitate more of their citizens to live comfortably. For example, if we talk about NewYork, that city is very much saturated but people are living good life over there even in small apartments because people over there have every kind of facilitiy they think of as government acknowleged the risk and made very high buildings within years.

If majority of the cities doesn't use this tall building strategy in over populated regions, people will be living miserably in upcoming times. For instance, I watched a documentary on China and India. Some of their cities are so densely populated that there's very less space for people to fit in and live where they do jobs. So they end up living in very small rooms where they barely can stand straight. They sleep near to their toilets rising health risk for civilians

Overall, I belive creating tall buildings have better fucture impacts and thats the only way area and space can be utilize better way.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you strongly support tall apartment buildings as a way to use limited urban space and house more residents. You address the question and give relevant examples, including New York and densely populated cities in China and India. The explanation that vertical construction can accommodate more people is pertinent, and the examples show an effort to support your view. However, some claims are broad or not fully explained: the New York example focuses on facilities and small apartments rather than showing how high-rise construction provides enough homes, while the China and India example describes poor living conditions without comparing this solution with alternatives. To develop the argument further, explain why tall blocks are preferable to other approaches and qualify the claim that they are the only effective option.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has an overall progression from your position, to reasons and examples, and then to a concluding statement. Paragraphing separates the main points, and phrases such as “For example” and “For instance” help signal supporting evidence. However, the second paragraph contains several ideas in one long sequence, so the links between migration, congestion, housing difficulty and government action are not always easy to follow. Some connections are also abrupt: the discussion of New York’s facilities does not clearly demonstrate the benefit of tall buildings, and the final example moves quickly from overcrowding to health risks. Use clearer topic sentences and divide long chains of ideas into shorter, logically connected sentences. More precise referencing would also help readers follow each point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “populated cities,” “urban areas,” “congested,” “densely populated” and “health risk.” These choices make the subject clear, and there is an attempt to use more specific language than basic everyday terms. However, the range and control are limited by repeated or imprecise expressions such as “people,” “space” and “buildings,” as well as awkward combinations like “living apartments” and “better future.” Several spelling errors—“alot,” “conjusted,” “facilitiy,” “acknowleged” and “belive”—are noticeable and reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise housing and urban-planning vocabulary, and check spelling carefully. Choosing natural collocations will make your argument sound clearer and more academic.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a conditional structure in “If majority of the cities doesn’t use this tall building strategy…” and a reason-and-result sequence about migration and congestion. This shows some range, but control is uneven, and errors sometimes make sentences difficult to process. For example, “Majority of the people migrates” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “governments in cities making buildings” is missing a finite verb. The long sentence beginning “So, finding a place to live…” also joins several clauses without clear punctuation. Work on agreement, articles and complete verb structures, and break long sentences into manageable units. More accurate complex sentences would improve clarity as well as range.
