Student answer (Band 5.0)

The one of the best way to provide homes to everyone in big cities is the only way to build appartments.i strongly belif that it is the best way to build enough homes for everyone in larger cities with more population.nevertheless it would be helpful in big cities to cover larger population and make it less expensive for most of the people.

i my opinion i believe that big citites can cover the population easily by building large number of appartments.as big cities have less space to provide separate homes for everyone.it will benifit in building more plazas and give enough space for playgrounds and provide evryone with good facilites.sincde in big cities most of people just live alone not more than five people. so it will also give them sense of community.

i believe that many students and people from other cities live in big cities tamporailrly for study and work purposes.so its very so iy would be veryh difficult for them to afford a seprate home. it would be better idea to give them small appartments and

so they prefer to live on smaller flats.like if a person is living alone just for work purposes he will defienlty prefer to live in small flat rather than big homje.

in my perspective it is the great idea to give people smaller appartments rather building homes for everyone becsuse it cant cover the population as it has a lot of building plazas.and people from lower inconme backgrounds cant afford homes because they usally rent the smaller places to live. its the best way to give enough space for everyone in big cities by building taller appartments.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You take a clear position in favour of tall apartments, and your reasons—limited space in large cities, affordability, and the needs of people living alone or temporarily in the city—are relevant. However, the response addresses the question only partially because it does not fully explain why tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide enough homes, or consider any limitations or alternatives. Some points are asserted rather than developed: for example, the claim that apartments “give enough space for playgrounds” needs a clearer explanation, and the point about community is not supported with an example. Clarify your position in the introduction and extend each main reason with a specific explanation or example to make the argument more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has an introduction followed by paragraphs that broadly group reasons about space, affordability, and residents’ needs. This gives it some organisation, and linking expressions such as “nevertheless,” “so,” and “because” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, progression is difficult to follow because points repeat, transitions are sometimes unclear, and several sentences run together or break off. The third paragraph, for instance, shifts from temporary residents to affordability and then ends with an incomplete thought. The conclusion repeats the preference for apartments but does not clearly summarise the argument. Use one focused topic sentence per paragraph, develop that point in a logical order, and check that each sentence is complete and clearly linked to the next.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use a basic range of vocabulary relevant to housing and cities, including “population,” “separate homes,” “playground,” “community,” and “lower income backgrounds.” This allows the main topic to be recognised. However, vocabulary is repetitive, particularly “big cities,” “homes,” and “apartments,” and frequent spelling errors such as “appartments,” “citites,” and “defienlty” make the writing harder to read. Some word combinations are also unclear, including “cover the population” and “building more plazas,” which do not express your intended meaning precisely. Build a wider set of accurate housing-related expressions and check spelling and collocations carefully. For example, use “accommodate a growing population” rather than “cover the population,” and “high-rise apartment blocks” rather than repeatedly saying “apartments.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple sentences and longer clauses, including explanations introduced by “as” and “because.” However, control is weak: errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and punctuation occur frequently and sometimes make meaning difficult to follow. The opening, “The one of the best way … is the only way,” has an unclear construction, while “i my opinion i believe” combines two introductory phrases without correct sentence boundaries. Other examples include “big cities have less space” and “most of people,” where grammatical forms are not controlled. Several sentences are joined with full stops or commas inappropriately, and the unfinished phrase “so they prefer to live on smaller flats” disrupts the paragraph. Practise accurate basic sentence patterns first, then add subordinate clauses and proofread for complete sentences.
