Student answer (Band 6.5)
Many people thought that tall apartment building is the most effective solution to the housing shortage in large cities. I strongly agreed with the particular statement that high-rise building make better use of land and support sustainable urban development.
One of the main reasons for building tall apartment blocks is that the land are too costly to executed. As urban population continues to grow it become impossible to give everyone housing space, if anyone get any kind of housing space but the price will be higher than ever. High-rise buildings allow thousands of people to live within a relatively small area, making the land efficient.
Another advantage is that apartment complexes can be planned according to suitable areas like modern residential towers are often located near schools, hospitals, shopping center, public transport. As a result it because easier to lead the daily activities. As a result, residents enjoy easier access to daily necessities while governments can provide utilities such as electricity, water, and waste management more efficiently.
However, some people believe that tall apartment blocks may create overcrowded living conditions and weaken community relationships. While these concerns are understandable, they can be addressed through careful in urban planning. And safety measures can provide residents with a comfortable and enjoyable living environment.
In conclusion, I firmly believe tall apartment building is the best way to meet the growing housing demand in large cities. When supported by proper planning and modern infrastructure, this approach offers a practical, sustainable, and long-term solution to urban housing challenges.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
Your position is clear from the introduction, where you strongly support high-rise housing, and it remains consistent in the conclusion. You address the question by giving two relevant reasons—efficient land use and access to services—and acknowledge a counterargument about overcrowding and community ties. These points are extended with explanations, such as how residents can live in a small area and how infrastructure can be provided efficiently. To strengthen the response further, develop the counterargument and rebuttal more specifically: “careful urban planning” and “safety measures” are asserted but not explained. Some claims, such as high-rise buildings accommodating “thousands,” would also benefit from a concrete example or qualification rather than broad generalisation.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The essay has a clear overall progression: an introduction states your view, separate paragraphs present supporting reasons and a counterargument, and the conclusion restates your position. Paragraphing helps the reader follow this structure, and links such as “Another advantage,” “However,” and “In conclusion” signal the stages effectively. There is some overuse or imprecise use of linking language, particularly the repeated “As a result” in the second body paragraph, where the first instance is also followed by an unclear clause. The sentence beginning “And safety measures” feels detached from the previous point. Use fewer, more precise transitions and connect each supporting sentence explicitly to the paragraph’s main idea.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “housing shortage,” “urban population,” “high-rise buildings,” “utilities,” and “sustainable urban development.” These choices make your main ideas clear, and phrases such as “relatively small area” and “growing housing demand” suit the topic. However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “land are too costly to executed,” “making the land efficient,” and “lead the daily activities.” “Shopping center” is also less precise in the plural list of nearby facilities. Aim for more natural combinations and check word forms; this will make your arguments sound more precise and fluent without requiring unnecessarily complex vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “if anyone get any kind of housing space but the price will be higher than ever” and a concession beginning “While these concerns are understandable.” The overall meaning is generally recoverable, but some grammatical errors remain across the response. Examples include subject–verb agreement in “the land are” and “it become,” article and number errors in “tall apartment building,” and the faulty construction “too costly to executed.” The long sentence beginning “As urban population continues to grow” also needs clearer clause structure and punctuation. Practise accurate agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries, then proofread complex sentences to ensure each clause is complete and correctly connected.
