The best way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks.

Student answer (Band 6.5)
Nowadays, many large cities are facing a serious housing shortage due to rapid population growth. Some people believe that constructing tall apartment buildings is the most effective solution to this problem. I largely agree with this viewpoint because it allows more people to live in limited urben areas, although other housing options should also be considered.
One of the main reasons why tall apartment blocks are beneficial is that they make efficient use of limioted land. Since land in major cities is expensive and scarce, building upwards rather then outwards enables thousands of families to live in the same area. In addition, high-rise apartments are often located near workplace, schools, hospitals, and public transport, making daily life more convenient. This can reduce commuting time and improve residents' overall quality of life.
Furthermore, modern apartment complexes usually provide various facilities such as parking areas, security systems, gyms, gardens, and playgrounds. These shared amenities improve living standards while reducing construction costs per household. As a result, apartment living can be more affordable than buying an individual house in a city.
However, relying only on tall aprtment blocks is not a perfect solution. High rise buildings may become overcrowded, leading to noise, traffic congestion, and pressure on public services. Moreover, some families prefer independent houses because they offor more privecy and outdoor space.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that building tall apartment blocks is one of the best ways to solve housing shorytages in larde cities because it uses land efficiency and p[rovides modern facilities. Nevertheless, this approch a

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you largely support tall apartment blocks, while acknowledging that other options matter. You give relevant reasons, including efficient land use, proximity to services, shared facilities, and possible overcrowding. These points address the question, and the examples of amenities help explain the benefits. However, some ideas are asserted rather than fully developed: for instance, the claim that shared facilities reduce costs is not explained, and the drawbacks of high-rise living are listed without showing how they affect whether this is the best solution. The conclusion begins to restate your view but ends unfinished, so your final qualification is unclear. More specific explanation and a complete conclusion would make the response more fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two paragraphs supporting high-rise housing, a paragraph on limitations, and a conclusion. Linking phrases such as “In addition,” “Furthermore,” and “However” make the main shifts easy to follow, and the ideas generally progress logically. Some connections remain broad rather than fully explained; for example, the link between shared amenities and lower costs is stated but not shown. The final sentence is also cut off at “Nevertheless, this approch a,” which disrupts the ending and leaves the relationship between your position and qualification incomplete. To strengthen cohesion, develop the links between claims and explanations, and ensure the conclusion provides a complete final synthesis.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “housing shortage,” “rapid population growth,” “high-rise apartments,” “traffic congestion,” and “public services.” These choices communicate the subject clearly, and phrases such as “make efficient use of” are appropriate. However, spelling errors are noticeable, including “urben,” “limioted,” “aprtment,” “shorytages,” and “larde.” There are also some imprecise or awkward choices, such as “uses land efficiency” and “near workplace,” which reduce naturalness. The response shows attempts at varied vocabulary, but more accurate spelling and collocation would make the language more precise and fluent. Proofreading and learning common housing-related word partnerships would be especially useful.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a subordinate clause in “Since land in major cities is expensive and scarce” and a contrast introduced by “although.” Most sentences are understandable, and the grammar generally supports your meaning. Some errors remain in sentence construction and grammatical forms. For example, “near workplace, schools” needs a determiner or plural form for “workplace,” and “because it uses land efficiency” does not form a clear grammatical relationship between the verb and its complement. The final sentence is incomplete, ending with “Nevertheless, this approch a,” so it cannot convey a complete thought. Check articles and plurals, and leave time to verify that every sentence has a complete structure.
