Student answer (Band 5.0)

Yes, the best way to provide the enough homes in large cities to the citizens is to build the tall apartment blocks. I am agree with this statement and always support it. The reason behind it is that if I talk about the large cities than the names came into my mind are Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Multan and others. As we know that Pakistan is an agriculture country and majority of our population is living in the rural areas. These rural areas lack the basic facilities like good hospitals, Colleges and Big Malls and all the facilities. Also in large cities, the job opportunities are more as likely than smaller cities and villages. So for these purposes people migrate from villages as well as from the smaller cities to the large cities. From the [redacted phone] survey, 13.5% of people migrates from one place to others. So, because of these things the people in big cities are in very big numbers and to build large apartments blocks become essential. Because the rent of apartment s less the house so people prefer apartments. Morethen in big cities, the cost of land is very expensive so most of the migtared people prefer the large apartments. Just like the students came from different areas for the higher education in large cities so they live in the apartments As well as the employes from the other cities. Now in this era, UAE is the most developed and famous state for tourism and they have large buildings of apartments and now most of the people prefer apartments. So, in the conclution i just want to say that that to build tall partments is the best way to provide enough homes in the large cities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you agree that tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide homes, and you give relevant reasons, including migration to cities for work and education and the high cost of urban land. The examples of students and employees needing accommodation help connect the issue to real demand. However, the response only partly develops the argument. It does not explain in detail how building upwards would provide enough homes or address possible limitations, and the UAE example is asserted rather than linked clearly to the claim. The migration statistic also needs a clear source and explanation. To strengthen the response, develop each main reason with a specific explanation or example and make the connection to your position explicit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response has a recognisable overall direction: it introduces agreement, gives reasons related to migration and land costs, and ends with a conclusion. However, ideas are not arranged into clear paragraphs, so the reader has to follow a long sequence of points without a strong progression. Linking expressions such as “Also,” “So,” “Morethen,” and “Now in this era” are repetitive or do not show the precise relationship between ideas. Some connections are unclear, particularly the shift from rural facilities to apartment rents and then to the UAE. Use separate paragraphs for the position, supporting reasons, and conclusion; group related points and use referencing and transitions that make each step in the argument clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “job opportunities,” “rural areas,” “higher education,” and “cost of land,” which helps communicate the main ideas. However, the range is limited and several phrases are inaccurate or awkward, sometimes making the reader pause: “provide the enough homes,” “the names came into my mind,” and “large apartments blocks.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-form errors, such as “migtared,” “employes,” and “conclution.” Aim for more precise housing and urban-development vocabulary, and check spelling and collocations carefully. For example, describe people as “migrating to cities” and refer consistently to “high-rise apartment buildings” rather than varying between unclear forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer conditional or explanatory sentences, for example, “if I talk about the large cities…” and “because of these things the people in big cities are in very big numbers.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and frequent errors in articles, agreement, verb forms, and sentence construction can make the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “I am agree,” “the names came into my mind,” and “13.5% of people migrates.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent, with several ideas run together. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses, checking articles and verb agreement. Breaking long sentences into shorter, correctly punctuated units will improve clarity.
