Student answer (Band 5.5)

Build tall apartement blocks will effectively save land usages in large cities. The lands would not be enough to provide more houses because the largest a city, the more dense it's population, which lead to increase of shelters demand. For example, although china has the largest area in the world, it still cannot provide a shelters for each people in that country. This is because china has also the most largest population in the world. to solve this problem china's government build massive apartements in a certain city to provide shelters to their people. I agree with this statement, because it will very efficient to make a high-rise building apartement on the few area rather than building houses in separate ways which consume a lot of land usage.

On the other side, living in a apartement would be expensive, this is because people still need to afford the monthly rent exclude the ultilies. people will tend to be buying a new house included land, because it will be more cheaper and affordable, besides they can also optimize the remain land that they have to build a farm or make a bussiness. as a result they will found more beneficial to buying a house rather than rent an apartment.

In conclusion, I agree that build a high-rise apartement blocks will be effectively to save land usage. however the government should subside the rent fees for their people.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you agree that high-rise apartments can save space, and you also acknowledge a drawback before recommending rent subsidies. The land-efficiency point is relevant, but the China example is broad and does not clearly demonstrate that tall blocks are the best way to provide enough homes. The counterargument about rent and buying houses is introduced, yet its connection to the question of supplying housing in large cities is not fully explained. This leaves the response only partly developed. The essay also contains 236 words, below the required 250, so there is limited space to explain and support your reasons. Develop each main point with a specific explanation or example and address why alternatives would be less effective.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an opening paragraph presents your agreement and a reason, a second paragraph introduces a disadvantage, and a conclusion restates your view. This gives the reader a basic route through the argument. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow, particularly where the discussion moves from China’s population to apartment construction and then to land use. Linking phrases such as “On the other side” and “as a result” are used, but the relationships they signal are not always precise. The second paragraph also shifts from rent costs to buying a house and farming without clearly connecting these ideas to housing provision. Use clearer topic sentences and explain each link between claim, reason, and example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “high-rise building,” “population,” “monthly rent,” and “land,” so the main subject is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or collocations make the writing less natural, such as “save land usages,” “provide a shelters,” and “optimize the remain land.” Spelling errors, including “apartement,” “ultilies,” and “bussiness,” are also noticeable. These issues sometimes make the reader pause to interpret your meaning, although the overall argument remains accessible. Build a more precise set of housing and urban-planning expressions, and check spelling and word forms carefully. Prefer natural combinations such as “reduce land use” and “meet housing demand.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a cause-and-effect structure beginning “This is because,” and a contrast introduced by “although.” However, the range is limited, and complex sentences are often faulty. Examples include “the largest a city, the more dense it's population,” “which lead to increase,” and “I agree with this statement, because it will very efficient.” Errors with articles, agreement, verb forms, and sentence boundaries occur frequently and can make some relationships harder to follow. For example, the final paragraph begins “however” after a full stop without appropriate capitalization. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a clearly controlled subordinate clause, then check articles, subject–verb agreement, and verb forms.
