Student answer (Band 5.0)

I strongly agree with the statement that housing apartment blocks in tall buildings in large cities. This initiative/effort will fulfill the dreams of many people who want to have a home in large cities.

Ongoing urbanization around the big cities is limiting the open spaces for the people to relax and enjoy after work, like parks. To solve the problem of housing and spaces in the busiest cities and large cities, the appropriate method to provide housing to the people is to give them apartment blocks. On taking these apartment blocks, people can have open spaces for them to enjoy and relax in such places. Also, this helps them to save their incomes to build new homes. This could help them to save their income in some extent. The limited spaces in large cities is the main problem to solve it. Creating a awarness campagin on the advantages on owning apartment blocks rather than building a new homes. For this government or respective authorities should give more priority to them to hear their needs right after the implementation of such rules and should providies subsidies in their taxes.

Taking an example of it, bigger cities like Kathmandu, Pokhara: People are choosing bigger cities for the purpose of work and studies later on they plan to have a home in those cities. Such problems can only be addressed by suggesting the individuals personally or by the means of local-level states. This will help to make large cities look more clean and organized rather than limited to the unspacious cities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

Your position is stated clearly at the start: you strongly agree that tall apartment blocks can help provide homes in large cities. You also refer to urbanisation, limited space, and examples from Kathmandu and Pokhara, so the response remains relevant to the topic. However, the central argument is only partly developed. The explanation that apartments create open spaces is unclear, and the discussion shifts to awareness campaigns, subsidies, and personal advice without showing how these measures make tall blocks the best solution. The city examples are named but not supported with specific details. To strengthen the response, explain directly how high-rise housing accommodates more residents on limited land, then develop one or two relevant examples and address why this approach is preferable to alternatives.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic paragraph structure, and some linking expressions—such as “To solve the problem,” “Also,” and “Taking an example”—show an effort to connect ideas. However, progression is difficult to follow because several points are introduced without clear relationships. The second paragraph moves from parks and apartment blocks to saving income, awareness campaigns, and tax subsidies, while the final paragraph shifts to personal advice and city organisation. Repetition, including the repeated claim about saving income, also weakens the flow. Some sentences run together, as in “new homes. This could help,” and the example paragraph does not clearly connect its cities to the main argument. Group related points into focused paragraphs and use clear references and transitions to show how each idea supports your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “urbanization,” “open spaces,” “subsidies,” and “implementation,” which helps communicate the general subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or combinations are inaccurate or unclear, sometimes making the intended meaning harder to understand. For example, “housing apartment blocks in tall buildings” is an awkward way to describe the proposal, while “unspacious cities” does not express the intended contrast naturally. There are also spelling errors such as “awarness,” “campagin,” and “providies,” and phrases such as “advantages on owning” show weak collocation. Aim for precise expressions such as “high-rise apartment buildings,” “limited land,” and “the benefits of apartment living,” and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including “To solve the problem … the appropriate method … is to give them apartment blocks.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For instance, “I strongly agree with the statement that housing apartment blocks in tall buildings” is incomplete in structure, and “The limited spaces in large cities is the main problem to solve it” has problems with agreement and sentence construction. Other examples include “people can have open spaces for them to enjoy” and “later on they plan,” where clause structure or punctuation needs attention. Practise building complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs, checking singular/plural agreement, articles, and punctuation, especially when joining clauses.
