Student answer (Band 6.0)
Many people believe that constructing high-rise apartment is the best solution to the housing shortage in the major cities. I am completely agreed with that belief. As livable land is limited, it will be wise to go for vertical expansion. It will help to ensure the best use of the land and the most affordable societies in the world.
Building tall apartment buildings is crucial for managing limited livable land. Large cities have strict geographical limits and unplanned expansion leads to damage the ecological balance which destroys natural habitats. In that case, vertical expansion of apartment blocks will help to accommdate hundreds of families on single and small peice of land. For example, New York and Singapore can be considered as those cities are successfully managing a large number of people singly depending on the high-rise residential buildings model.
Furthermore, high-rise apartments provide a more cost-effective housing solution while improving city infrustructure. The idea of this housing solution is unique and makes housing affordable for the renters. When the developers build upward, the high cost of land distributes among many renters or buyers as updward expansion increased the number of apartments in the same land. This type of housing plan also helps the government to ensure maximum level of public service within the same cost. As a large number of people live in same area, government can easily trace the needs of the people easily and it helps to design the infrustructure efficienty. If those people were living in scattered way, it will be challenging to trace them and bringing under the service umbrella.
In the end, vertical exapansion of the apartments is the best solution to overcame the housing crises in the major cities. Though some people will prefer traditional methods for housing as it provides privacy, it will not be a wise option for better world as land is limited.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: you completely support high-rise housing, and the conclusion returns to this view while acknowledging that some people prefer traditional housing. The two main reasons—using limited land efficiently and reducing housing and service costs—are relevant and supported with examples such as New York and Singapore. This addresses the task well. However, some points are asserted more than explained: the claim that governments can provide services more easily, for instance, would benefit from a specific example or clearer explanation of how density reduces costs. The brief concession about privacy is also not developed. More balanced, precise support for these points would make the argument more fully extended.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion. The progression from land use to affordability and infrastructure is easy to follow, and signposts such as “Furthermore” and “In the end” help identify the stages of the argument. Some linking and referencing are less controlled, however. In “As a large number of people live in same area,” the connection to the preceding claim about public services is understandable but the explanation becomes repetitive, particularly with “easily” used twice. The final concession is introduced abruptly and not connected to the main reasoning. Use more precise references and develop transitions between claims to make cohesion less mechanical.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “vertical expansion,” “ecological balance,” “natural habitats,” “cost-effective,” and “public service.” These choices show an attempt to discuss housing and urban planning beyond basic terms. However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision: “accommdate,” “peice,” “infrustructure,” and “exapansion” are misspelled, while “the most affordable societies” does not clearly express the intended idea of affordable housing. Some phrases are also awkward or repetitive, such as “singly depending on” and “same land.” This fits a range that is adequate for the topic but not consistently accurate. Proofread spelling and learn common collocations for housing, land use, and urban services.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including a conditional sentence (“If those people were living in scattered way…”) and clauses beginning with “As” and “Though.” The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “I am completely agreed” uses an incorrect verb form; “apartment” needs a plural form in the opening; and “on single and small piece of land” is missing articles. In “unplanned expansion leads to damage,” the verb pattern is faulty, while “it will be challenging … and bringing” does not maintain a parallel structure. These errors show that complex forms are attempted but not yet consistently controlled. Practise verb patterns, articles, plurals, and parallel constructions, then check each sentence for agreement and structure.
