The best way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks.

To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Student answer (Band 5.5)

To offer with sufficient number of homes in cities it is mandatory to build tall apartment sectors and to what scope do i agree or disagre with it.

Firstly, if we look at the number of growing population it is compulsary for the govermet to make big apartments to adjust the population rather than making or giving land for house to everyone as making everybody's own house for his family will be expensive and time taking and also facing the main issue of land shortness so the last hope would be destroying crops or farms which can never be a reasonable steps .

On the other side of coin , some people also disagree due to the fact that making tall apartments will be so against the environmental as it will be stop air flow to the ground and willl look so conjusted . Other arguments are that the the everyone has a dream of making their own house with their will as everybody works day and nights for their house so this dream has to be shattered as everybody will get the same looking apartments and also one of the issue in the apartment is parking as looking at the number of growing cars or bikes .

If i prefer to give my opinion, i will say that the first stance of building large apartment is a better option as it has much more benefit in comparison to house making as it will be more cost friendly and also environmental friendly.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a clear overall preference for tall apartment buildings, especially in the final paragraph, and you offer relevant reasons such as population growth, limited land, cost, environmental concerns, and parking. However, the position is not fully clear at the start: the opening repeats the question rather than stating how far you agree. The opposing points about airflow, appearance, and people wanting individual homes are introduced but not explained in enough detail, and the conclusion claims apartments are environmentally friendly without reconciling this with your earlier concern about their environmental effects. Develop fewer points with specific explanation or an example, and make your degree of agreement consistent throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from reasons in favour to objections and then to your opinion. Linking phrases such as “Firstly” and “On the other side of coin” help signal this organisation. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow because several separate ideas are joined together, and the final paragraph does not resolve the environmental point raised earlier. Some connections are mechanical or unclear, including “If i prefer to give my opinion,” and the opening does not establish a clear direction. Give each paragraph one main purpose, use clearer transitions between claims and explanations, and refer back explicitly to the central question when concluding.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt topic-related vocabulary, including “population,” “environmental,” “apartments,” and “parking,” and you communicate the main subject throughout. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or collocations make parts difficult to understand. For example, “apartment sectors” is not a natural term for apartment buildings, “land shortness” is unclear, and “against the environmental” is not idiomatic. Spelling errors such as “compulsary,” “govermet,” and “conjusted” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise set of phrases for housing and urban planning, and check spelling and collocations so your ideas are expressed naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt longer sentences with reasons and contrast, for example the sentence beginning “Firstly, if we look at the number of growing population.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors in articles, agreement, verb forms, and sentence construction sometimes make the meaning hard to follow. Examples include “it is mandatory to build,” followed by an unclear opening structure, “it will be stop air flow,” and “everybody works day and nights.” Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, particularly with “i” and spaces before commas. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them using subordinate clauses; check subject–verb agreement, articles, and verb forms during editing.
