Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the recent years, due to burst in increase in the population of developing countries, the government had proposed idea of building new tall apartment blocks to ensure enough homes to the residents of the cities. However, Some people are in the favour of the idea whereas some people oppose this notion.
I take stand with the side of people against the notion of tall apartment blocks due to the reasons presented in the essay. One of the significant reason why some people prefer homes with land is due to nature of ownership and control of the apartment home as it is restricted with the obligations to the societal commitee of the apartments which causes hindurance to their freedom. In addition to that, other concerns of the prospective buyers is return on investment because for many families their home serves as their biggest investment which requires significant portion of the life time savings.
however, people in favour of the idea argue that it increases the productivity per area of land and in effect helps the apartment home owners to have different facilities such as gym, swimming pool, threatre, parking area, gardens etc which was owning it individually wasn't possible with the same amount of money. Lastly, Environmentalist argue in favour of idea of apartment homes, As it saves a lot of deforestation of areas outskirts to the cities used for extending the cities for new homes.
In my opinion, I do genuinely believe that people owning homes with land can have much more satisfaction over ther others owning the apartments home due to the argued reasons presented in my essay.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you oppose tall apartment blocks, and you give relevant reasons concerning residents’ control over their homes and the value of land ownership. You also acknowledge arguments in favour, including shared facilities and reduced pressure to extend cities into surrounding areas. This addresses the question, but the discussion is uneven: the points supporting your opposition are not fully explained, and the benefits of apartment blocks receive more concrete detail. The final paragraph repeats your preference rather than weighing the arguments or showing why your concerns outweigh the advantages. Develop each main reason with a clear explanation or example, and make the link between your reasons and the claim about providing enough homes more explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure, moving from an introduction to your position, a discussion of opposing arguments, and a conclusion. Linking phrases such as “In addition to that,” “however,” and “Lastly” help signal relationships between points. However, the progression is sometimes mechanical, and the second body paragraph shifts to the case for apartment blocks without clearly explaining how this relates to your opposition. The conclusion also repeats the position rather than drawing the discussion together. Some references, such as “the argued reasons presented in my essay,” are vague. Use topic sentences to establish each paragraph’s purpose, connect the counterargument back to your position, and use clearer references to the ideas already discussed.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “productivity per area of land,” “return on investment,” “life time savings,” and “deforestation.” These choices show an attempt to discuss housing and environmental effects beyond basic terms. Some less common expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, however, such as “burst in increase,” “hindurance to their freedom,” and “owning it individually.” There are also spelling and word-form errors, including “commitee,” “theratre,” and “apartments home,” which reduce precision. Aim for natural collocations and check spelling carefully. For example, describe a rapid population increase, restrictions on residents’ freedom, and facilities that would be unaffordable to provide individually.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because” and “whereas,” and most of your meaning remains understandable. Some grammatical errors persist, particularly with articles, agreement, and verb forms. For example, “One of the significant reason” needs a plural noun, while “the government had proposed idea” is missing an article and has an awkward tense choice. In “facilities … which was owning it individually wasn't possible,” the clause structure and agreement make the relationship difficult to follow. Capitalisation after full stops is also inconsistent, as in “however.” Practise building complex sentences around one clear main clause, then check articles, singular/plural agreement, and punctuation.
