Student answer (Band 4.0)
It is often considerate that constructing skyscrapers is the best way to accomodate more population in big cities. In my opinion this is a temporary solution to a problem although to address this rising issue, government should develop the neglected regions and take initiative to provide higher education, job oppurtunities and advance health care facilities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
The response gives a discernible position: tall buildings are described as a “temporary solution,” while developing neglected regions is presented as a longer-term approach. This is relevant to the question, but the argument is only minimally addressed. The response stops after beginning “Few people have an opinion that to provide residence to”, so it does not explain the benefits or drawbacks of apartment blocks, support its alternative with examples, or develop a conclusion. The required minimum of 250 words is not met; at 65 words, there is far too little material to fulfil the task. To improve, state your degree of agreement clearly, explain and support two relevant reasons, and complete the essay with a conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
The opening moves from the housing issue to your position and then to an alternative, so a basic line of thought is visible. The linking phrase “although” also attempts to connect contrasting ideas. However, the response ends mid-sentence, and there is no developed paragraph structure or progression beyond the opening. The unfinished sentence beginning “Few people have an opinion…” leaves the reader without knowing how it relates to your position. Use separate paragraphs for your position and supporting reasons, and connect each point with clear references and transitions. Completing the essay would allow you to show how the ideas build logically rather than leaving the argument incomplete.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You attempt some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “skyscrapers,” “neglected regions,” “job opportunities,” and “health care facilities,” which helps communicate the general direction of your argument. There are also several inaccurate or unnatural choices: “It is often considerate” does not express the intended idea, and “accommodate more population” is an awkward collocation. “Advance health care facilities” is also not the natural form for this meaning. Spelling errors in “accomodate” and “oppurtunities” reduce accuracy. The short response offers little evidence of range or flexible use, so focus on accurate collocations and spelling before trying to use more ambitious vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The opening includes a complex sentence with a contrast, and the writer attempts to express a position using “In my opinion.” However, control is uneven. In “although to address this rising issue, government should develop…”, the relationship between the clauses is not grammatically complete; a full clause is needed after “although,” or the sentence should be divided. The phrase “Few people have an opinion that to provide residence to” is unfinished, so its structure and meaning cannot be followed. The response is too brief to demonstrate a range of sentence forms or consistent accuracy. Practise completing clauses and checking that each sentence has a clear subject and verb, then use a mix of simple and complex sentences.
