Student answer (Band 4.5)

In large cities population increase very fastly. It has many reasons, one of the most common the people of small towns and small cities migration towards the large cities and live their. In large cities there have not enough space to provide separate home to every single family. Its best way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks and i am completely agree in this statement to built tall apartment blocks for the every individual families.

It have several drawbacks to build large apartment blocks in large cities. Firstly, when the number of families live in the same building they have so many chance to get different types of experience. For intense, if any family have some problems they can share with other family and solve this problem together. Furthermore, if build tall apartment blocks in a large cities number of families live in the same place and in this way government control to spread the cities wildly.

In my opinion, it is very significant thought to build large apartment in big cities and i am completely agree with this statement.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You state a clear position—“I am completely agree” with building tall apartment blocks—and give relevant points about shared support between families and limiting urban sprawl. However, the response addresses the task only minimally: the benefits are briefly asserted rather than explained, and there is no developed example or consideration of why this is the best way to provide homes. The opening also gives background without advancing the argument, while the conclusion simply repeats your view. The response contains 172 words, which is 78 words below the 250-word minimum; 15 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. To strengthen the response, explain how high-rise housing increases the number of homes on limited land, support this with a specific example, and develop each reason.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic overall shape: an introduction, a paragraph presenting reasons, and a concluding statement. Connectors such as “Firstly” and “Furthermore” help signal the order of points. However, progression is limited because the second paragraph combines social support and government control of urban growth without clearly explaining how the ideas relate to the main claim. The conclusion repeats the introduction rather than drawing the reasons together. Some references are also unclear, as in “solve this problem together,” where the problem is not specified. Use separate, focused paragraphs for each main reason, and link each explanation explicitly to the provision of more homes. This would make the organisation clearer and reduce the impression of a list.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “population,” “families,” “apartment blocks,” and “government,” so the reader can identify the subject. There are also attempts to express more specific ideas, such as “spread the cities wildly.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, which sometimes makes the intended meaning difficult to follow. For example, “fastly” and “for intense” do not express the intended meanings naturally, and “separate home” is imprecise in this context. Build a more accurate set of phrases for housing and urban development, and check whether each expression fits its context. Greater precision would help you explain your reasons rather than relying on general wording.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including a conditional idea beginning “if any family…,” and the main position can be understood. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in sentence construction, verb forms, agreement, articles, and punctuation. Examples include “population increase,” “there have not enough space,” and “I am completely agree”; these patterns make parts of the response difficult to read. The conditional sentence also shifts between singular and plural forms (“any family have” and “they”). Practise building accurate subject–verb patterns and complete sentences before adding complexity. For example, use a clear subject and verb in each clause, and check agreement and articles when revising.
