Student answer (Band 5.5)

In today's world where population is increasing day by day the ideal way to provide enough residencial places is to built large building blocks. I strongly agree with this view because in this way people will intereact each other so they will feel more connected and also there will be less traffic problems on road because there will be more space to build parking loats and broden roads.

Firstly, people live isolated in their homes and there is lack of commucation between the residents, if they will live in tall appartments they will able to communicate better by daily interactions. For instance, many people go to office daily in morning so that's how they will able to know about each other by interacting. Moreover there will be more space for parking lots in the cities and places will feel less cowded. For example, there were always cars park on the sides that make problem for most of the drivers on the road.

Furthermore, apartments blocks are less costly as compare to separate homes, the reason that homes usually contains alot of rooms that are not under usage but still people live in entire house. Subsequently it is better to find the specific appartment according to members of the house, so it will be less costly as compare of live in separate house.

In conclusion, while house provides privacy to the residents, however i strongly believe that the overcrowded cities must provide by enough homes by building large appartments for the residents of the cities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you strongly agree that tall apartment blocks can help provide homes in large cities. You give relevant reasons, including closer interaction between residents, parking space, and lower costs than separate houses. However, the support is uneven and some links to the question are not fully explained. For example, the point about residents meeting on their way to work illustrates social contact, but does not show why high-rise construction is the best way to increase housing supply. The parking argument also needs a clearer explanation of how building upwards creates more road or parking space. Develop each reason with a specific explanation or example, and acknowledge practical limitations such as overcrowding or reduced privacy.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs beginning with “Firstly” and “Furthermore,” and a conclusion. These paragraphs generally group related ideas, and examples are introduced with “For instance” and “For example.” This gives the reader an overall sense of progression. However, connections between claims are sometimes mechanical or unclear. The move from tall apartments to “more space for parking lots” is not explained, and “Subsequently” does not clearly show the relationship between choosing an apartment size and saving money. The conclusion also introduces privacy without developing it earlier. Use linking phrases to express precise relationships, and make sure each paragraph develops one main point in a logical sequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “population,” “residents,” “isolated,” “privacy,” and “overcrowded,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several spelling, word-form, and collocation errors make the writing less natural, such as “residencial places,” “parking loats,” “less cowded,” and “less costly as compare.” Some phrases are also imprecise, including “large building blocks” and “places will feel less crowded.” Aim for accurate, natural expressions connected to urban housing, such as “high-rise apartment buildings,” “housing supply,” and “reduce pressure on roads.” Proofread spelling and learn common word partnerships so your vocabulary communicates ideas more precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including conditional and reason clauses, as in “if they will live in tall appartments” and “the reason that homes usually contains…”. These attempts show an effort to express relationships between ideas, but complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For example, “they will able to communicate” is missing a verb, while “homes usually contains” has a subject–verb agreement error. The opening sentence also runs several ideas together without clear punctuation. Practise accurate clause patterns, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries; then use a smaller number of well-controlled complex sentences rather than joining many claims in one sentence.
