Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is often argued that the best possible way to provide sufficient number of homes in big cities is to build tall apartment blocks. I completely agree with this perspective because these thing solved housing problems and save land.
The primary reason why i agree with the notion is that it solved housing problems in cities. In other words, big cities have large population and tall building gives accomodation many people in small area. For example, people comes from rural areas to large cities for better health , education and communication facilities while the big cities do not have enough space for large number of people ,so this type of tall apartment blocks are made for providing enough house . As a result, large number people can live together in a small place happily.
Furthermore, saving land is another reason for building this tall apartment . In cities , there are so many school , college, office, hospital and the roads are much wider than village. So there are limited space for accomodation. For instance, by building apartment in small area we can save land for many other facilities that can develop our cities in many circumstance.
In conclusion , I firmly belive that constructing tall apartment blocks is the best way to provide enough homes in big cities because it can solve housing problem and saving land in city area.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear from the introduction and conclusion: you completely agree that tall apartment blocks are the best solution. You give two relevant reasons—accommodating many people in a small area and saving land—and the example of people moving from rural areas helps explain the pressure on city housing. However, both points are only briefly developed, and the second paragraph’s reference to other facilities does not fully explain how apartment construction makes enough homes available. The response also contains 223 words, so it is 27 words below the required minimum; the eight words copied from the task prompt are excluded. Develop each reason with a more specific explanation or example to address the task more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion that restates your position. Linking expressions such as “In other words,” “Furthermore,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of your argument. The progression is generally understandable, although some connections are mechanical and a few references are unclear. For example, “this type of tall apartment blocks” does not agree smoothly with the preceding explanation, and “this tall apartment” in the next paragraph is not a natural reference to the general idea. The example in the first body paragraph also runs through several points in one long sentence. Use clearer references and divide explanations into more focused sentences to make the links between ideas easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “housing problems,” “large population,” “limited space,” and “facilities.” However, the range is limited and some word choices or collocations are noticeably inaccurate, which makes parts of the response less natural. Examples include “provide sufficient number of homes,” “gives accomodation many people,” and “in many circumstance.” Spelling errors such as “accomodation” and “belive” also reduce accuracy. Aim to use more precise housing and urban-planning language, and check spelling and common word partnerships. For instance, “accommodate a large number of residents” expresses your point more naturally than “gives accomodation many people.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a reason clause beginning “because” and a longer sentence explaining why people move to cities. The main message remains understandable, but errors in agreement, articles, plurals, and verb forms occur across the response. For example, “these thing solved” has problems with number and tense, while “big cities have large population” needs an article or plural form. In “people comes,” the subject and verb do not agree, and “large number people” is missing a grammatical link. Punctuation and spacing are also inconsistent, particularly around commas. Practise checking each sentence for subject–verb agreement and complete noun phrases, while keeping some complex structures in your writing.
