Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is considered that the population of urban areas are increasing over a few decade whcih is the alarming situation. Some individuals suggest that constructing high rise apartment is the best way to proivde accomdations. I largely agree with this statment because multi story building can adjust many people in one block, although some people find it diificult to live in it.

On the one hand, one major advntage of these apatment is that is can bring together in one place. Mostly land in major citties are very expensive, so constructing tall apartment which are bughet friendly can be beneficial for some families. For example, many major major cities such as karachi, delhi and dhaka individuals are prefer to live in it because mostly have low income salalry. As a result, the excessive inhabitants is decreasing becuase of these apartments.

Another benefit is that double story building can build near the main road, so it is easy to government to proivde them basic nessities such as Hospital, School and access to public transport. Moreover, residents have easy access to shop and other household iltems becuase the ground floor of these apartment is moslty grocery and vegetable shops it is convenient for people to purchase items. However, many people not recoommed to live in these blocks, especiallly with families becuase they need park or garden and quit place, where they live happily with their loved ones.

In conclusion, although some individuals perfer to live in house becuase of their familiy and privacy. But i firmly agree that multi story block is the essentail way becuase it can adjust overcrowding and support economy,

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you largely agree that tall apartment buildings are an effective response to housing pressure, and you give relevant reasons, including making better use of expensive urban land and bringing services closer to residents. The examples of Karachi, Delhi and Dhaka help connect the argument to real cities. You also acknowledge a drawback—families may prefer gardens, parks and quieter surroundings—so the response considers more than one perspective. However, some points are not fully explained: the claim that apartments reduce “excessive inhabitants” is unclear, and the economic benefit in the conclusion is asserted rather than demonstrated. Explain more precisely how high-rise housing increases the number of homes and support each main claim with a clear example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting benefits and a drawback, and a conclusion. The progression from land use to access to services is generally logical, and signposts such as “On the one hand,” “Moreover” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. However, the first body paragraph’s example and result are difficult to follow, particularly the link between low-income residents and “excessive inhabitants” decreasing. The second body paragraph also shifts from services to shops and then to objections without clearly separating or developing these points. Some linking phrases feel mechanical, and the final contrast beginning “although” is not smoothly connected to the main conclusion. Use clearer references and make each paragraph’s central point and supporting explanation more distinct.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “urban areas,” “high rise apartment,” “overcrowding,” “public transport” and “privacy.” These choices make the subject clear, and there are attempts at more specific language such as “low income salary.” However, spelling errors and inaccurate word forms are noticeable throughout, including “accomdations,” “nessities” and “essential.” Some collocations are also unclear: “adjust many people” and “bring together in one place” do not express the housing benefit naturally, while “double story building” does not accurately describe the tall blocks discussed. These issues sometimes make the reader work to understand your meaning. Build a more reliable range of housing-related collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully; for example, use “accommodate residents” and “high-rise apartment buildings.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a concession with “although” and a reason clause beginning “because.” This gives the response some structural variety, and the main argument is usually understandable. However, errors in agreement, articles, verb forms and sentence construction recur. For example, “the population … are increasing” needs singular agreement, and “one major advantage … is that is can bring together” has an unclear subject and faulty clause structure. In “many people not recommend to live,” the verb pattern is incomplete; the conclusion’s “although … But” also creates an awkward sentence connection. Improve control by checking subject–verb agreement, using complete clauses, and avoiding a second connector after “although.” More accurate complex sentences would make your reasoning easier to follow.
