Student answer (Band 5.5)

As the large number of population is continue to grow in large cities, providing affordable housing is become one of the major challenges. Although buliding tall apartments and flats can accomodate large number of people in a limited area, I partly disagree that this is the only best solution exists because proper urban plannning are also necessary.

The main point which merits the serious consideration is that, constructing tall buildings and high apartments is a effective way to adresss the problem of high population due to the fact that this can build multiple houses and floors on a single land as larger number of people get their accomodation easily without concerning about the land. To exemplify, a single tall buliding having multiple floors can give accomodation to huge number of people in one go whereas if, on that particular land there is only one house it will help only one family not multriple.

On the other hand, effective way of urban planning with better implimentation and optimization leads to better way of living because living on a single land with multiple floors is a huge burden on land itself so government should make some measures to adress better plan. To exemplify, recently an incident happened in delhi where an 5 story building broke down due heavy burden of floors and large number of people were killed and injured, because the foundation becomes week due to the heavy weight of floors and it leads to massive outburst.

Overall, If government take some effective measures towards proper urbanization plan, it may also provide enough homes for the people of the country.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address the topic and give a partly disagreeing position: tall buildings can house many people, but you argue that urban planning is also necessary. The first example comparing a multi-storey building with a single house supports the benefit of building upwards. However, the response does not fully explain why this is not the best solution, and the Delhi building collapse is used to suggest a risk without showing how it demonstrates the need for alternative ways to provide homes. The conclusion shifts towards planning without clearly restating how far you agree with the statement. Develop both sides with specific reasoning and make your position consistent from introduction to conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting contrasting points, and a conclusion. Phrases such as “On the other hand” help signal the change in viewpoint, and “To exemplify” introduces supporting details. However, progression within the paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow: the second body paragraph moves from urban planning to the burden on land and then to a building collapse, without clearly connecting these points. The conclusion is brief and does not fully draw together the argument. Use clearer topic sentences and explain the link between each example and the paragraph’s main claim; vary linking expressions so the structure feels less formulaic.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “affordable housing,” “urban planning,” “foundation,” and “population,” which helps communicate the subject. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “merits the serious consideration.” However, spelling errors and inaccurate word choices are noticeable, including “buliding,” “adresss,” “accomodation,” and “implimentation.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “a huge burden on land itself” and “massive outburst,” which make parts of the argument less clear. Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common collocations for housing and city development. Prefer precise, natural expressions over elaborate phrases that do not fit the intended meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt complex sentences using clauses such as “Although…” and “because…,” and the reader can generally understand your main points. However, errors occur frequently in basic sentence patterns and in the more ambitious structures. For example, “the large number of population is continue to grow” has problems with the noun phrase and verb form, while “providing affordable housing is become” uses an incorrect verb construction. Agreement and articles are also inconsistent in “urban plannning are” and “an 5 story building.” Some sentences are long and joined in ways that obscure their relationships, particularly the sentence beginning “To exemplify” in the first body paragraph. Practise accurate simple clauses first, then add subordinate clauses and check each sentence’s subject, verb, and punctuation.
