Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people argue that to accomodate most people in big cities is to build highraise apartment blocks. This can resolve some issues, however, it will have its limitations as well.
In this essay we will discuss what problems can tall apartments resolve and what challenges will be still be there that only tall building might not resolve, and will share my opinion in the end.
In large urban areas, people from nearby cities and town, comes in search of jobs and business, and indeed, highraise buildings can manage the issue of population density, in a smaller areas more number of people can live, its solves the problem of land available for homes. In apartments as people live closer, usually community building and socializing is easier for everyone.
In contrast, just building tall apartments might not be the solution if people are not able to afford them, tall apartments usually are expense to buy or rent, have high maintaince cost, which if not afforable, people would not be living in them. Secondly, with growing population, cities face issues such as shortage of water, and energy for the powerhouses, only providing homes is not enough if the city lacks the basic necessities. Also tall building also have risk of collapsing in case of any natural diseaster such as earthquick or flood.
In my opinion, I agree that highraise flats can be a solution to provide enough homes in big cities, however, the local government should also consider the other factors such as affordibility, safetly and provision of other basic facilities for the growing population.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address the question and present a clear, qualified position: tall apartment blocks can help provide homes, but affordability, safety and infrastructure also matter. Relevant reasons include using less land per resident and accommodating population growth, while the discussion of water and energy shortages adds a useful limitation. This meets the task well, though some points are more fully explained than others. For example, the claim that apartment living makes “community building and socializing” easier is asserted rather than supported, and the risks of collapse are not connected to how they affect the housing solution. To strengthen the response, explain these points with a specific example and make the comparison with other possible approaches to housing more explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph explaining benefits, a contrasting paragraph on limitations, and a concluding opinion. Signposting such as “In contrast” and “In my opinion” helps readers follow the argument, and the main position remains consistent. Some cohesion is less controlled, however. The second paragraph announces that the essay will discuss issues and give an opinion “in the end,” which is a mechanical roadmap, while the conclusion repeats the introduction without drawing the reasons together. Within paragraphs, several ideas are joined in long sentences, making relationships less clear. Use clearer sentence boundaries and link each supporting point directly to the claim it develops; this would make progression more flexible and less dependent on formulaic transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “population density,” “basic necessities,” “maintainance cost,” and “affordibility,” and the intended meaning is generally recoverable. However, the range and control are uneven, with repeated reliance on “tall apartments,” “people,” and “problem.” Several spelling errors and inaccurate word choices are noticeable, including “highraise,” “expense,” “diseaster,” and “earthquick.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “manage the issue of population density” and “the powerhouses” for the city’s energy supply. These errors keep the vocabulary from showing the flexibility and precision needed at a stronger level. Build a bank of accurate housing and urban-planning collocations, and proofread spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “if people are not able to afford them” and a contrast introduced by “however.” The overall meaning is usually understandable, but grammatical control is inconsistent, particularly in longer sentences. For example, “people from nearby cities and town, comes” has agreement and number errors, while “in a smaller areas more number of people can live” has problems with articles and sentence structure. The opening phrase “to accomodate most people … is to build” is also awkwardly constructed, and some sentences run together with comma splices. Aim for shorter, complete sentences when presenting several points, and check subject–verb agreement, articles, plurals and punctuation. More accurate control of these patterns would make your complex ideas easier to follow.
