Student answer (Band 6.0)
The best possible way to accomodate the population of densely populated cities is to build high-rise apartments which occupy less area and provide more area to reside in. In my opinion building properly designed apartment complexes specially designed for large cities are the best solution in order to accomodate a large amount of people living there along with the outsiders which temporarily move to big cities for better opportunities. Although it comes at the price of privacy and safety.
The major problem large cities face is the limitation of adequate space in order to entertain a large amount of people living there, this results in the development of houses in the outskirts of the city resulting in an irregular expansion of the city. Without proper transport this can lead to serious traffic. Building high-rise apartments in the main areas of the city results in proper housing facility for people to live. This way enough housing can be given to people in proper way without disturbing the city formation.
Secondly, Propely designed apartment complexes can accomodate a large number of people occupying very less space. One average 20 storey building with around 20 apartments on each floor can accomodate roughly equal amount of people that live in a small society with individual homes located at distances. In this way cities can be designed properly with allowing larger people to live with adequate facilities of larger cities. Although a major drawback of these is the invasion of personal privacy. People who tend to live alone find it akward to live in these types of buildings with neighbours being quite close and using the same entrances , parkings and shared stuff like rooftops. Also in case of any mishap people often tend to be selfish when leaving these tall apartments resulting in a rampant.
Overall, i believe that possibly the best solution to provide enough homes in large cities is to build vertically rather than horizontally, This not only organizes the city more but also results in more pace for the expanding population of the city. But it comes at the sacrifice of personal privacy and can be diffcult to evacuate in case of any mishap due to personal survival instincts of other residents living .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you support high-rise housing as the best way to accommodate city populations, while acknowledging costs to privacy and safety. You address the prompt with relevant reasons, including limited urban space, outward expansion and traffic, and the capacity of apartment buildings. The example of a 20-storey building helps make the capacity argument concrete. This meets the core task well, and the response also recognises a counterargument. To strengthen the response further, develop some points more fully: explain how vertical construction would address transport or access to facilities, and clarify the safety concern with a specific example rather than the unclear claim that residents become selfish during an emergency. The position is sustained, but some supporting ideas remain general or under-explained.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present reasons and a drawback, and the conclusion restates your position. Sequencing words such as “Secondly” and “Overall” help signal the stages of the argument. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and links between ideas are not always clear. For example, the first body paragraph moves from limited space to urban sprawl and traffic, then to housing in central areas without fully explaining each connection. The second paragraph shifts from building capacity to privacy and emergency evacuation quite abruptly. Improve progression by giving each paragraph a clear central point, using pronouns with clear references, and adding explicit explanations between claims.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “high-rise apartments,” “outskirts,” “urban” ideas such as city expansion, and “personal privacy.” These choices show an adequate range for discussing housing and urban planning. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, and some phrases are awkward or imprecise, such as “entertain a large amount of people,” “more pace for the expanding population,” and “resulting in a rampant.” Repetition of “large amount of people” and “properly designed” also limits flexibility. Aim for more precise collocations and check spelling carefully; for instance, use “accommodate a large population” and “urban sprawl.” More accurate vocabulary would make your reasoning clearer without requiring more complicated words.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including clauses beginning with “Although” and sentences explaining cause and effect. The main argument is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors and punctuation problems remain. For example, “Although it comes at the price of privacy and safety” is a fragment, while “One average 20 storey building…” lacks a clear grammatical construction. There are also issues with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “This way enough housing can be given to people in proper way” and the comma splice in “This not only organizes the city more but also results in more pace…” Work on complete sentence structures, consistent punctuation, and accurate article use. These improvements would help you express complex points more smoothly.
