Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent years people move from rural areas to the cities, increasing the rate of the popultion in those cities, some think we should build tall apartment blocks to have enough home,i totally agree with this vew, even though this solution will be not enough for everyone.

to begin with, cities attracks people because works, spaces, and ambitions it is easier to get good education that the slum area,so for those reasons cities are overcrownded, building tall apartment will be the best way to host those who are homeless, towers with 20 floors or more, for instance in France,we have building which were built since the 19th century but still hosting people.

Furthermore, with tall apartment, places will be available and people are not going to struggle for homes because every single day, there is a moving from one place to another place,In some countries they build what we cll hsotels for those who can not afford tall apartment.

however, with this new era will there is always need, building tall apartment can be nice and good but those who can not afford either those building or hostels are going to suffer because not everyone has the means to take care of themselves, struggling to get what to eat still exist in this new word, the government should think about poor people too instead of building tower for those who can afford the price.

Ton conclude, with lack of homes in cities, governments should build houses such as towers, hostels to tackle the problem of houses in cities, but they should not forget some people are poor and they need help.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you agree that tall apartment blocks can help, while recognising that they will not solve everyone’s housing needs. You give relevant reasons, including migration to cities for work and education, and mention existing multi-storey buildings in France. However, the response only partly develops the task. The example is general and does not explain how such buildings have increased housing supply, while the point about people unable to afford apartments or hostels shifts towards poverty without fully explaining alternative ways to provide homes. Develop each main idea with a clearer explanation or specific example, and make the extent of your agreement more precise in the conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has an overall structure, with an introduction, supporting paragraphs, a contrast introduced by “however,” and a conclusion. This helps the reader follow the broad direction of your argument. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the first body paragraph moves from city attractions to overcrowding and then to a brief example in France without fully connecting these points. Linking phrases such as “Furthermore” and “To conclude” are useful, but some transitions feel mechanical, and references such as “this solution” and “those buildings” are not always precise. Organise each paragraph around one main point, explain it in sequence, and use clearer references to connect ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “rural areas,” “overcrowded,” “apartment blocks,” “hostels,” and “afford,” so the reader can understand the general subject. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, spelling, and collocation errors make parts difficult to interpret. For example, “cities attracks people because works, spaces, and ambitions” is unclear, and “a moving from one place to another place” is an awkward way to describe population movement. Errors such as “popultion,” “cll,” and “hsotels” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise housing vocabulary and check spelling and natural word combinations before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a concession in “even though this solution will be not enough for everyone” and a contrast beginning “however.” This shows an effort to express relationships between ideas. However, sentence structures are often faulty, and errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and punctuation can make meaning harder to follow. For example, “cities attracks people” has incorrect subject–verb agreement, while “there is a moving” uses an unsuitable grammatical construction. Several long sentences run together without clear punctuation, particularly in the opening and first body paragraph. Practise building accurate sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses and consistent punctuation.
