Student answer (Band 6.0)

In large cities it would be better to build high rise apartments in order to accumodate large number of homes. I totally agree with the statement and share some insights that, why this type of construction is better. In this essay we will discuss reasons of it with few real life examples.

Firstly, in modern construction this approach is highly demanding and most of the cities are building such proteotypes. A lot of schemes in both developing and developed cities focus on tall buildings, it would not only save huge land but also would be able to provide space for extensive number of homes. For instance a project by Lake City Society is believed to provide shelter for about 2000 families on a land of 2 acres. Moreover, this type of housing schemes provide every facility needed in a day to day life such as, pure water for drinking, best quality internet services and also emergency services like an ambulance of their own with additionally personal security guards for the building.

Furthermore, these schemes also gives shared space in the centre of the building for recreational activities like playing area for kids and a small community park. Where families from various backgrounds sits and communicate with each other. This is better for residents because in this way they would help each other in circumstances of problems and also they would get to know each other better.

In conclusion, tall building blocks are beneficial in many aspects for example, land saving, enormous families could live under same shelter and could possibly interact and assist one another in daily life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: “I totally agree,” and the conclusion returns to the benefits of tall blocks. You give relevant reasons, including efficient land use, housing many families, shared facilities, and opportunities for residents to interact. The Lake City example also helps make the land-use point more concrete. However, the discussion does not fully establish that tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide enough homes: the claims about facilities and community life show advantages of this housing type, but are less directly connected to housing supply. Some points, such as how the project compares with lower-density alternatives, need fuller explanation or support. This clear, relevant response is effective overall, but its ideas are not consistently developed and supported.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate benefits, and a conclusion that restates your position. Sequencing markers such as “Firstly” and “Furthermore” make the progression easy to follow, and the example is placed alongside the land-saving argument it supports. Some connections are less smooth: “Where families from various backgrounds sits” is a sentence fragment, and the link between shared facilities and the claim that residents will help one another could be explained more explicitly. The opening also announces that the essay will discuss reasons, which is somewhat formulaic. To strengthen progression, make each paragraph’s central claim explicit and use clearer links between the evidence and the point it is meant to prove.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic-related vocabulary, including “high rise apartments,” “recreational activities,” “community park,” and “emergency services.” These choices make the subject clear, and phrases such as “developing and developed cities” show an attempt to vary expression. However, several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “highly demanding” for a construction trend, “extensive number of homes,” and “enormous families.” There are also spelling errors such as “accumodate” and “proteotypes.” These do not prevent understanding, but they reduce precision and control. Aim for natural collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, use “accommodate,” “a large number of homes,” and “large numbers of households.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and more complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “because” and “in order to,” and the main ideas remain understandable. Some grammatical errors are noticeable, however. For example, “these schemes also gives” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “families … sits” should use a plural verb. “In this essay we will discuss reasons of it with few real life examples” also has problems with article use and sentence construction. The sentence beginning “Where families…” is a fragment rather than a complete sentence. Work on agreement, articles, and complete sentence boundaries, and punctuate introductory phrases such as “For instance” consistently. More accurate control of these patterns would make your varied sentence attempts clearer.
