Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowdays, residents think that the best way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks. Because people believe that it is trend now and all people like to live in buliding. I was totaly disagree with that statements, I will discuss both views in forthcoming paragraphs.

Highlight first aspects, lived in apartments is not a great ideas. There are serveral factors people should not leaved in tall aparrment. To began with, safety issues they can feel insequare in apartments. For example, when suddenly earthquake happend and people see that many bulding fall down when ever earthquake apperance. Moreover, people can also lose there freedom and its not looks their own apartments. Because when people stay in build apartment they didnot have a axcess to assist gardern or celebration occasion, wedding. People obtain permention to their leaders first.

Shifiting to other aspects, I believe that constructing tall building should not be the only solution. living in overcrowded apartments can sometiomes reduce privacy and create noise pollution. In addition, if too many building are constructed without proper planning, cities may experirnce traffic congestion and a shortage of green space. Although, it have benfit is that apartments can make daily life more convenient. Many residential buliding are located near schools, hospital, shopping centres and workplaces.

In conclusion, tall apertment blocks is an effective way to provide sufficient housing in large cities because it saves land and accommodates many people. Neverthless, governments should combine this apporach with other housing solutions to create comfortable and sustaniable communities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a clear disagreement in the introduction and raise relevant concerns, including earthquake safety, privacy, noise, traffic and green space. However, the position becomes inconsistent: the conclusion calls tall blocks “an effective way” to provide housing, despite the opening saying you totally disagree. The discussion also does not fully answer the question of whether this is the best way; several points are asserted rather than explained, and the example about permission for gardens or celebrations is unclear. The response is 241 words, so it is 9 words below the 250-word minimum; the 16 words copied from the task prompt are not counted. Develop fewer points with specific explanation and examples, and maintain one clear position throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and phrases such as “To begin with,” “Moreover” and “In addition” help signal the sequence of points. However, progression is weakened by the shift from opposing tall blocks to describing them as effective in the conclusion. The first body paragraph also moves abruptly from safety to freedom and access to gardens or celebrations, without clearly connecting these ideas. “Highlight first aspects” and “Shifting to other aspects” are awkward paragraph openings, while “Although” introduces a sentence that is not completed as a contrast. Use clearer topic sentences, link each example directly to its main point, and make the conclusion consistent with the argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt vocabulary relevant to urban housing, including “overcrowded apartments,” “traffic congestion,” “shortage of green space” and “sustainable communities.” These phrases show some awareness of the topic, but the overall range is limited and frequent spelling and word-choice errors make parts difficult to understand. Examples include “insequare,” “apperance,” “permention” and “sustaniable”; “lose their freedom” is also imprecise for the point about apartment living. Some expressions are unnatural, such as “lived in apartments is not a great ideas” and “access to assist garden.” Build a bank of accurate housing and planning collocations, check spelling carefully, and choose precise terms for the intended meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer sentences and use clauses with “when,” “because” and “if,” but the range is limited and complex structures are often faulty. For example, “Because people believe that it is trend now” is a fragment, and “I was totally disagree” uses an incorrect verb form. There are frequent problems with agreement, articles and plurals, as in “tall apartment blocks is” and “a great ideas.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation also need attention, particularly in “Although, it have benefit is that apartments can make daily life more convenient.” Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then check tense, agreement and articles. More accurate simple sentences would make your ideas easier to follow.
