Student answer (Band 5.5)
Present century experiences a jump in high-rise building blocks in most of the big cities. As land area is limited and population expands geometrically, I support this development.
First of all, if we look at population in cities, the number is increasing rapidly due to employment, education, healthcare, and other living facilities. Inorder to occupy this huge number, it is needed to create more housing in a small area. Therefore, there is no other option to build tall building.
Secondly, the total land is fixed for a city because its expantion narrows the agricultural land and forests, which creates environmental problems. So the developper company is thinking for highrise structure.
Last but not least, in tall buildings, many people is living in a small area, which increase communication among the households and also easy to develop medical facilities, education, shopping compleses, and other facilities.
In conclusion, it can say that the government should take proper steps and produce laws to monitoring this development due to occupy all people.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
Your position is clear: you support tall apartment blocks, and the response gives relevant reasons involving urban population growth, limited land, and access to services. However, the task is only partially addressed because these points are asserted rather than explained with specific examples or developed consequences. For instance, the claim that there is “no other option” is too absolute, and the final point about communication and facilities is not clearly connected to how high-rise housing provides enough homes. The conclusion shifts to government regulation without summarising your main reasons. The response is also 82 words below the required minimum, which leaves too little space to develop your argument. Extend each reason with explanation or a relevant example and make your position more fully supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, three body points signalled by “First of all,” “Secondly,” and “Last but not least,” followed by a conclusion. This makes the main line of argument easy to follow. However, progression within paragraphs is limited, as each point is presented briefly and then the response moves on. Some links are mechanical, particularly the repeated use of sequencing phrases and “So.” The relationship between ideas is occasionally unclear: the point about preserving agricultural land and forests does not fully explain why developers choose high-rise buildings, while the final paragraph combines housing density with communication and service provision. Develop each paragraph around one clear claim, explanation, and example, and use more precise links between them.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “high-rise,” “population,” “agricultural land,” “forests,” and “medical facilities.” These choices help communicate the subject, and some phrases show an attempt to use more specific language. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning less natural, such as “expantion,” “developper,” “compleses,” and “thinking for highrise structure.” Several expressions are also imprecise, including “occupy this huge number” and “produce laws to monitoring this development.” Aim for accurate collocations and forms, such as “accommodate a growing population,” “developers are considering high-rise construction,” and “introduce regulations to monitor development.” Proofreading spelling and word forms would make your vocabulary more effective.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional opening (“if we look at population in cities”) and a reason clause beginning “because.” The main ideas are generally understandable, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “many people is living” has a subject–verb agreement and verb-form problem; “which increase communication” also needs agreement, and “it can say” is missing the appropriate subject construction. Articles and sentence patterns need attention in phrases such as “build tall building” and “it is needed to create more housing.” Practise checking agreement, verb forms, and complete sentence patterns, then vary your structures while keeping them accurate. These corrections would make the argument clearer and more controlled.
