Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

Your position is clear: you support building tall apartments, and you give relevant reasons, including saving land, housing many people near workplaces, and making utility provision easier. The commuting example begins to support your point, but the response does not fully develop these ideas or explain why this is the best approach compared with alternatives. The final point about nearby shops is unfinished, and there is no concluding statement. The response also contains 157 words, which is 93 words below the required minimum; the eight words copied from the prompt are excluded. This limits how fully you can address the task. Develop each reason with explanation or a specific example, and complete the essay with a clear conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic overall arrangement: an opening position is followed by reasons and examples. Phrases such as “for instance” and “however” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, the progression is not consistently clear: the final sentence about shopping malls stops before its point is completed, and “however” does not introduce a clear contrast. Several ideas are crowded into one paragraph, while spacing and punctuation around sentence boundaries are inconsistent. Use separate body paragraphs for distinct reasons, connect each example directly to its claim, and finish with a conclusion. These changes would make the organisation easier to follow and reduce the sense of abrupt transitions.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “overcrowded,” “ground space,” “tall apartments,” and “electricity, gas and water.” However, the range is limited, and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts less clear, such as “appartments,” “officess,” “maintainance,” and “petrol in their travelling commutes low.” Some expressions are also imprecise, including “provide individuals enough homes” and “distributes their maintainance.” Aim for accurate collocations and a wider range of housing and urban-planning terms. For example, describe how high-rise housing “accommodates more residents per unit of land” and how it can “reduce commuting distances.” Proofread spelling and check that each phrase expresses the intended meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including “building upward allows…” and “For government, it is easy to provide…”. However, the range remains limited, and frequent errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and punctuation sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “this allow workers,” “the individuals who lives,” and “the shopping malls and markets were near the city.” The opening also has faulty comma placement and inconsistent capitalisation, while the final sentence is incomplete. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and verb forms, and make sure every sentence has a complete main clause. Short, accurate sentences would help you express the ideas clearly before adding more complex structures.
