Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
Your position is clear: you agree that tall apartment buildings can help provide homes, and you give relevant reasons, including using less land and offering a cheaper alternative to buying land for a house. The example about your friend also supports the affordability point. However, the response addresses the task only partially because the reasons are repeated rather than developed, and the claim that apartments provide “all the facilities” is asserted without explaining how this helps meet housing needs. The conclusion mainly restates earlier points and does not add a considered final view. To strengthen the response, explain the benefits and limitations of building upwards, and develop each reason with a specific explanation or example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Paragraphs are generally focused on reasons for agreeing, and signposts such as “To begin with” and “Moreover” help show the intended sequence. However, progression is limited because both body paragraphs return to affordability and the availability of land, so the second point does not clearly extend the first. Some linking phrases feel mechanical, and references such as “this point” and “this essay” do little to connect specific ideas. The conclusion repeats the body points rather than synthesising them. Organise each paragraph around a distinct reason, then use clear links to show how its explanation and example support your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “urban areas,” “accommodation,” “apartments,” “limited” land and “expensive,” so the main ideas are understandable. However, the range is limited and several choices or collocations are noticeably unnatural, which can make the reader pause. For example, “citizen’s occupation” does not express the intended idea, while “netizens” is unsuitable for people seeking housing. “Excellent path” and “good facility of electricity” are also imprecise. Spelling errors such as “Consiquently” and “paargraph” further reduce accuracy. Aim for straightforward, precise housing vocabulary and check spelling; repeating “apartments” and “flats” can also be reduced by using terms such as “high-rise housing” or “residential buildings.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including a conditional-style example and clauses introduced by “because” and “so.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to process. Examples include “individuals are use to stay,” “in an apartments,” “the number of lands are limited,” and “one of my friend who was went.” These show problems with verb forms, agreement, articles and plurals. The conclusion also contains inconsistent tense and sentence-boundary errors. Practise building accurate basic sentences first, especially subject–verb agreement and past-tense forms, then add subordinate clauses. Proofread each sentence for articles and singular/plural agreement before submitting.
