Student answer (Band 6.0)

In modern era, Population are increasing rapidly and facing alot of accomodation problem. The best way to provide enough shelter in big cities is to bulid tall appartment blocks. From my point of view, I clearly aggree with the statement.

First reason, alot of young people migrate to the big cities in search of good facilities and better opportunities. The area of land remains same but the number of population increased rapidly which leads to the shelter problem. So, to utilize the limited land and provide the homes to people, tall appartment blocks are necessary. For instance, In the kathmandu valley of Nepal, The local residents are few in previous time period. As all the facilities and opportunities are centeralized, all the people of different regions migrate here. The first problem they faces was shelter problem due to lack of land. Government of Nepal also started to solve this type of problem by building tall appratment with many blocks.

Second reason, Building tall appartments uses less amount of land. So remaining portions of land can be used for forestation in order to maintain natural resources. By this approach both people and natural resources also gets benifited. For example, utilizing limited amount of land for builing tall appartments solves the problem of shelter and certain area of land can be used for natural resources like forest, parks etc. which balance nature.

In conclusion, building tall appartments can solve the problem of housing and aslo utilize the certain land areas for the natural resouces. People can get proper facilites and better opportunities without facing the problem of homes. So, I think this approach is better in order to provide enough homes and also keep the nature clean and fresh.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction: you agree that tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide housing. Both body paragraphs give relevant reasons—limited land in growing cities and the possibility of preserving space for parks or forests—and the Kathmandu example helps connect the first point to a real context. This addresses the task, but the support is unevenly developed. The Kathmandu example is asserted rather than explained in detail, while the second paragraph largely repeats the claim that high-rise buildings use less land and gives a general example rather than evidence. To strengthen the response, explain why this approach is better than alternatives such as expanding suburbs, and develop the environmental point with a specific, realistic example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two reason-based body paragraphs, and a conclusion that restates your position. The progression from housing pressure to land use is logical, and signposts such as “First reason,” “Second reason,” and “In conclusion” make the organisation easy to follow. However, these transitions are somewhat mechanical, and links between individual claims are occasionally unclear. For example, the move from migration to the Kathmandu example could explain more explicitly how population growth creates demand for apartments. The second paragraph also repeats the same land-use point in its example. Use a wider range of natural linking phrases and make each example add a distinct detail to the argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “limited land,” “shelter problem,” “natural resources,” and “opportunities.” Some attempts at more specific language, such as “centralized,” are relevant, but spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable throughout and reduce precision: “accomodation,” “appartment,” “benifited,” and “resouces” are examples. Several phrases are also unnatural or repetitive, including “the number of population” and repeated use of “shelter problem.” These choices do not prevent the reader from understanding your argument, but they limit the range and control of your vocabulary. Practise accurate spelling and collocations, and use alternatives such as “housing shortage” and “urban population” to express ideas more precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a reason clause in “As all the facilities and opportunities are centralized…” and a purpose clause in “in order to maintain natural resources.” The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in agreement, articles, and verb forms. For example, “the number of population increased” needs a more accurate subject and verb construction, while “the first problem they faces” has incorrect subject–verb agreement. In “both people and natural resources also gets benefited,” the verb does not agree with the compound subject. Review articles and singular/plural agreement, and check each sentence’s subject and verb. More accurate control of these patterns would make your argument smoother.
