Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this modern era where population of all the big cites of the countries increasing rapidly and goverments know it's very difficult to manage the population.

Lots of cities are not expanding in term of width they build a tall apartment blocks where many families can live. This is the best solution for managing the population of the cities.

For example, China is largest populated country in the world. They design their cities into tall aparment buldings. Every bulding has 100 plus floors and in every floor has 10 to 15 apartments and everything is available in one bulding like shopping centers, hospitals, and business offices. You can see a complete world in one 100 plus floor bulding.

For every successful city needs this type of advancement like china, and dubai. when you build a single home in the city. Cities expands in width that is very diificult to manage the city.

We have an expample, 1920 Lahore was a small city after 1960 Lahore stared expanding government baned tall buldings so, lots of housing societies made single houses as the result now city is full of population and it's very difficult to manage for the government now they decided to apciate to build the tall apartment buldings this will help to manage the city population.

Where we see lots benefits but also has lots of drawbacks like tall buldings can not servive the earthquakes and floods. So, we need to bulid advanced and strong foundation to overcome the future risks. We need to design better drainage system advance management system.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You take a generally clear position in favour of tall apartment blocks, and the examples of China, Dubai and Lahore are relevant to the question. The Lahore example also begins to explain how low-rise expansion can make a city harder to manage, while the final paragraph acknowledges risks such as earthquakes and floods. However, the response only partly develops the argument: claims such as “This is the best solution” and the description of facilities in one building are asserted rather than explained with evidence or clear reasoning. The drawbacks are mentioned briefly, but their implications and possible solutions are not fully explored. To strengthen the response, explain why vertical housing provides homes more effectively than alternatives and make your degree of agreement explicit throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable overall structure: it introduces the issue, gives examples, discusses Lahore, and ends by noting disadvantages. This helps the reader identify the main line of argument. However, progression between ideas is uneven, and several paragraphs contain loosely connected claims. For instance, the move from China’s buildings and facilities to “For every successful city needs this type of advancement” is abrupt, while the Lahore example combines historical background, government policy and a proposed solution in one long sequence. Linking phrases such as “For example” and “Where we see” are used, but some connections are unclear or mechanical. Organise each paragraph around one main point, then explain how its example supports your position, using clearer references and transitions.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “population,” “apartment buildings,” “housing societies,” “earthquakes,” and “drainage system,” so the reader can follow the general subject. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repeated, particularly “tall apartment buildings” and “manage the city.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “cites,” “goverments,” “aparment,” and “diificult,” and some word choices or collocations are unclear, including “cities are not expanding in term of width” and “appreciate to build.” These errors sometimes make the intended meaning harder to understand. Build a more precise range for discussing urban planning, density and infrastructure, and check spelling and common word combinations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including a conditional idea in “when you build a single home in the city,” but control is inconsistent. Frequent errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction can make the reader pause. For example, “population … increasing rapidly” lacks a correctly formed verb, and “Every building has 100 plus floors and in every floor has 10 to 15 apartments” contains faulty clause structure. The sentence beginning “For every successful city needs” is also incomplete or incorrectly formed, while several long sentences join multiple ideas without clear punctuation. Practise building accurate subject–verb sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses using “because,” “which” and “although.”
