Student answer (Band 5.5)

Building tall apartments had became a new trend in recent years for giving homes to the residents of the large cities. In this essay i will discuss about their pros and cons and then i'll give me opinion regarding this.

On one hand, building large apartments in cities will give the residents of the urban areas a huge quantity of homes as one tall building contains atleast 50 to 60 apartments. Moreover , it will be greatful for whose who wanted to live in tall buildings and share some quality time with their families in front of a beautiful view. However, it will eventually make these residents less social. For instance, they will live in their homes and rarely go outside to interact with other residents of that particular building.

On the other hand , large apartments will not give you large amount of space for those who lives in a joint family. They all need proper space and different rooms for their privacy. Moreover, the people who are addicted to the open environment will not able to survive in tall apartments. however, these kind of houses grab alot of space so less amount of people can inhabit this paticular area. The example for this is that only family members will live in that area whereas alot of residents looking for a place to live.

According to my perspective, building tall apartments is a better option for the residents of the large cities if government manages it properly. In addtion to that they must make sure to build an enough space apartment so that around 7 to 8 people can live there without any kind of trouble.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address the question by considering both the housing capacity of tall buildings and possible disadvantages, then state that you support them if the government manages them properly. The point that one building can contain “50 to 60 apartments” is relevant, and the final condition gives your position some clarity. However, the response partly shifts into general pros and cons rather than fully evaluating whether tall blocks are the best way to provide enough homes. Several claims are asserted but not explained: for example, the link between apartment living and becoming “less social” is not convincingly established, and the space argument is unclear. Develop fewer points with specific reasoning or examples, and compare tall blocks with alternatives before reaching your conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs presenting contrasting points, and a concluding opinion. Signposts such as “On one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “According to my perspective” help readers follow the broad structure. However, progression within the paragraphs is uneven: the first moves from housing supply to family time and then social isolation, while the second combines family space, preference for open environments, and land use without clearly connecting them. Some linking phrases are mechanical, and the contrast between the two sides is not consistently developed. Organise each paragraph around one main claim, explain it, and then support it with a relevant example. Clearer links between sentences would make the argument easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “residents,” “urban areas,” “joint family,” and “privacy,” and the reader can generally understand your intended points. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which makes parts of the argument awkward: “a huge quantity of homes,” “it will be greatful,” and “these kind of houses grab alot of space.” Spelling and word-form errors such as “paticular,” “addtion,” and “atleast” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise housing vocabulary and check whether words fit their context. For example, describe a building as providing “a large number of homes,” and use “occupy” or “require” when discussing land and space.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “as,” “whereas,” and “so that.” This gives the response some structural variety, but control is inconsistent and errors occur frequently enough to make several sentences awkward. Examples include “Building tall apartments had became,” “those who lives,” and “will not able to survive”; these show problems with verb forms, agreement, and missing auxiliary verbs. Sentence boundaries and punctuation also need attention, as in “area. The example,” while capitalisation of “i” and “however” is inconsistent. Practise accurate past and present forms, subject–verb agreement, and complete verb phrases, then proofread each sentence for punctuation and capital letters.
