Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often argued that making high-rise building is the best approach to solve housing problems in big cities. I would agree with this point of view because such initiaves not only solve the traffic congestion but also but also reduce the carbon emissions.
To begin with, reducing traffic jam is one of the prime benefits of making tall building. Nowadays, making small houses without proper planning is the main reasons of traffic problems because its consume several space. As a result, roads and highways become narrower day by day. If authorities make more tall building, they may use the land efficiently because modern tall building take small areas compared with traditional buildings. A recent research showed that Dhaka has extreme levels of traffic jam compared to Singapore, whereas both cities have same number of population. This is because Singapore has more high-rise building.
Moreover, decreasing carbon emmisions is another positive aspect of modern skycraper. At present, traditional building emits a large amount of carbon mono-oxide during its construction hours. But the high rise buildings were also emit the same gasses but the amount was small compared to tarditional building because a tall building provide houses more than thousan of families but at the same time need thousand of traditional houses, where occuring several stage of constructions and causes the large amount of carbon emissions. A survey conducted by Sylhet municipal corporation showed that London has less carbon emission compared to sylhet due to its modern tall building.
In conclusion, I strongly belive that construct tall apartment blocks is the best way to solve households problem becuase it reduces the traffic congestion and the carbon emissions.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the introduction to the conclusion: you agree that tall apartment blocks are the best way to address housing needs, and you give two relevant reasons—more efficient land use and lower emissions. The examples about Dhaka and Singapore, and London and Sylhet, help illustrate these points. However, the connection between high-rise housing and reduced traffic is not fully explained: using less land does not by itself show how residents’ journeys or congestion would decrease. The emissions argument is also somewhat unclear, particularly the comparison between one tower and many traditional houses. Develop these links with more precise reasoning and explain how the examples support your claims to make the response more fully convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion that restates your position. Signposting such as “To begin with,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” makes the progression easy to follow, and the examples are placed alongside the relevant arguments. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some of the flexibility associated with stronger cohesion. However, some links between claims are not sufficiently clear: the move from land use to narrower roads, for example, needs explanation, and the emissions comparison is difficult to follow. There is also an accidental repetition in “but also but also.” Make the cause-and-effect links explicit and use transitions to show how each sentence advances the argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “high-rise building,” “traffic congestion,” “carbon emissions,” and “land efficiently,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “prime benefits” and “traditional buildings.” However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision: “initiaves,” “emmisions,” “skycraper,” and “tarditional” are misspelled, while “traffic jam” is less suitable than “traffic congestion” in this context. Some phrases are also awkward or imprecise, including “making high-rise building” and “construction hours.” Build accuracy with common collocations and check spelling carefully; this will help your vocabulary communicate ideas more smoothly and reliably.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “If authorities make more tall building, they may use the land efficiently” and a comparison introduced with “whereas.” Most of the argument remains understandable, but some errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction affect accuracy. For example, “small houses … is the main reasons” has a subject–verb agreement problem, and “the high rise buildings were also emit” combines incompatible verb forms. In “a tall building provide houses,” the subject and verb do not agree. Practise checking each sentence’s subject and verb, and revise complex sentences to ensure their clauses fit together grammatically. Greater control would make your varied structures more effective.
