Student answer (Band 6.0)

I partly agree with the statement that tall apartment blocks are the effective way to provide enough homes in large cities, As it can provide good level of housing to the citizens but there can be some consciences which they have to pay as well. such as safety, privatization, and much more.

On one hand, Tall building like residential buildings, commercial buildings, and skyscraper can save a places by storing or given place to approximately a few hundred to over 35,000 people in it. Now as a government perspective it can be a good thing in terms of development In respect of the volume of visitors in the country.

On the other hand, These can be beneficial but when concerning safety, emergency exits, privatization this can be a big drawback. From a hazard-reduction standpoint, taking an example of a residential building accident happen recently in Karachi, as residential arcade can contain 300 plus homes customarily now as a residential building named Gul plaza had a tragic incident of fire emergency due to narrow emergency exit Ultimately, more than 30 to 45 people lost their lives. Now if the same thing happen in a groups of independent homes as it have different direction to exit and and smoke cannot blur the humans eye as an advantage of open space, We might can safe that 40 lives Without a hitch.

To sum up, tall buildings solve the issue of limited city space and help manage growing population demands. However, the critical drawbacks regarding safety and emergency exits cannot be ignored. While high-rises are necessary for development, prioritizing safe construction and evacuation routes is essential to ensure that saving space does not come at the cost of human lives.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you partly agree that high-rise housing can meet demand, while arguing that safety risks must be addressed. You respond to both sides and give a relevant, specific example in the account of the Gul Plaza fire, which helps support your concern about evacuation. The conclusion also restates your balanced view and offers a practical condition: safe construction and evacuation routes. However, the benefits are less fully explained than the risks; for example, the point about accommodating visitors and national development is not clearly connected to providing homes. The comparison with independent homes is also asserted rather than fully supported. To strengthen the response, explain how high-rise construction compares with alternatives and develop each reason more precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction states your position, two body paragraphs present contrasting considerations, and the conclusion summarises your view. Signposting such as “On one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “To sum up” makes the broad progression easy to follow. Some connections are less clear or mechanical, however. The first body paragraph moves from saving space to visitors and national development without explaining the link, while the long fire example combines several claims in one sentence, making the sequence difficult to track. Referencing in “These can be beneficial” is also vague. Use clearer topic sentences and divide the example into shorter steps so each point follows logically from the previous one.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “emergency exits,” “hazard-reduction,” “evacuation routes,” and “limited city space,” and these choices help communicate the subject. There are also attempts at less common or formal language, such as “privatization” and “without a hitch,” but some choices are inaccurate or do not fit the intended meaning. “Privatization” does not clearly describe a drawback of apartment blocks, and “consciences” appears to be an incorrect word choice for disadvantages. Phrases such as “save a places” and “storing or given place” are also unclear. Aim for more precise collocations and check that each less familiar term expresses the intended idea; this would make the vocabulary more reliable and easier to understand.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional comparison beginning “If the same thing happen…” and a concluding sentence with a subordinate clause. However, control is uneven, and errors sometimes make the reader work to understand the meaning. Examples include “Tall building … can save,” where the subject and verb do not agree, and “a residential building accident happen recently,” where the verb form is incorrect. The long sentence about the fire also contains several clauses joined without clear punctuation, and “as it have different direction” has agreement and number errors. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence boundaries. Breaking long sentences into shorter, complete units will help you show complex ideas more clearly.
