Student answer (Band 5.5)
While the concept of tall apartment blocks in large urban areas is considerable to offer numerous homes. I firmly agree with this view, firstly if we construct high rise buildings obviously its provide enough space for many people's. Moreover if we made horizontal buildings which might be covered big area and it provide less accomodation for the people's.
To begin with, if we construct high rise buildings they offer multiple apartments for accomodation and other household items which are need in our daily life and I'm sure about that its provide many space for living. In addition the most valuable benefit of vertical buildings its secured less area as compare to horizontal buildings. For example; bangulows are construct in a horizontal way and its required major space and it offer less accomodation, whereas tall apartment provide numbers of stories and its ensure that provide homes for many people's in a type of flats.
Secondly, if we construct buildings in a horizontal shape, its also good for living but its provide slightly lower accomodation as compared to tall buildings, because they are made wider not taller and one of the most major issue is that they secured alot of space to construct. Moreover in large cities land are very valuable and the cost of land might be expensive. For instance; one horizontal construct building have capacity of maximum 15 peoples, By contrast tall buildings offer capacity of hundreds peoples and even more than it.
In conclusion, if we require enough homes for living in big cities, we have to construct tall apartment blocks, because its provide alot of space and people's easily accomodate in flats. but if we construct horizontal buildings they required enough space and offer less space to living.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you firmly agree that tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide homes in large cities. You give relevant reasons, especially that vertical construction uses less land and can accommodate more residents, and the comparison with horizontal buildings supports your view. However, the response addresses the issue only partially because the reasons are repeated rather than fully developed. For example, the claim that a tall building can house “hundreds peoples” would be more convincing with a specific, realistic example or explanation of how this meets urban housing needs. The point that horizontal buildings can also be good for living is introduced but not explored. Develop fewer ideas in greater detail and make the supporting examples more precise.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The main line of argument is generally understandable, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “Secondly” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the stages. However, progression within the body paragraphs is limited: several sentences repeat the same contrast between tall buildings accommodating more people and horizontal buildings using more land. Some linking is mechanical, particularly the repeated use of “Moreover” and “For example,” and the semicolon after “For example” is not used appropriately. Referencing is also sometimes unclear, as in “its provide” and “it offer,” where the reader must infer what “it” refers to. Organise each paragraph around a distinct reason and connect examples directly to that reason.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use a small range of topic-related vocabulary, including “high rise buildings,” “apartments,” “horizontal,” “stories” and “capacity,” so the central comparison is usually understandable. However, vocabulary is repetitive and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which can make meaning less clear. For instance, “secured less area” does not naturally express the idea of using less land, while “provide enough space” is imprecise when you mean housing capacity. There are also noticeable spelling and form errors, including “accomodation,” “bangulows” and “alot.” Aim to use accurate housing and urban-planning terms, and check spelling carefully. More precise phrasing would help you express the comparison without repeatedly relying on “space” and “provide.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including conditional clauses such as “if we construct high rise buildings” and a contrast using “whereas.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and frequent errors sometimes make the reader work to understand the intended meaning. Examples include “its provide,” “they are need,” and “land are very valuable,” which show problems with subject–verb agreement and verb forms. Sentence boundaries and punctuation also need attention: the opening fragment beginning “While the concept…” is not a complete sentence, and “construct. Moreover” lacks a space and appropriate punctuation. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then check agreement, articles, plurals and punctuation before submitting.
