Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadys, modern technology has entered in each and every field. The good approach is to provide enough houses in big cities to build tall apartments blocks .I largely agree with this point of view and discuss the reasons why big apartments are good way to provide homes in large cities.

To commence with, there are numerous reasons why large apartments are necessary to build in cities. The first and foremost reason is that today, people are living in competitive era so everybody wants luxury and comfortable life to live in cities so if government will make tall building apartments in big cities then it would help them to reduce deforestation because if they will make big houses in other parts of cities then cut more and more trees to clean the land .As result, it would puts bad impact on people life in future. Moreover,People can enjoy all facilities like malls, shops, food courts and many more under one roof.Hence, it will help them to save their tiem time as well as money because there is no need to go from one place to another to fullfill their basic needs.

Turning towards the second aspect, there are some drawbacks if authorities will make bis apartments in big cities.Initially. it would will fall suddendly like sometimes natural disters will come then tall partments can fell down because of poor air quality and earthquake. Besides this, big apartments cost maintance will high because nowadays inflation has inclined as compared to bygone era so ordinary people cannot afford these apartment blocks in thier lives.

To cap it all, no doubt that idea is good to make tall apartment blocks in cities to manage over population but it has disadvantages like it would suits only for rich people not for poor ones.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you largely agree that tall apartment blocks can help provide homes in large cities. You give relevant reasons, including limiting the spread of development into areas with trees and allowing residents to access shops and other facilities nearby. You also acknowledge disadvantages, such as affordability and safety, so the response addresses both the proposal and its limitations. However, some points are not fully explained. For example, the link between apartment blocks and reducing deforestation needs a clearer explanation, and the claim that facilities under one roof save time is not directly tied to the housing shortage. Develop each reason with a specific example and explain how it supports your overall position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting benefits and drawbacks, and a conclusion. Paragraphing helps the reader follow the main stages of your argument, and signposts such as “To commence with” and “Turning towards the second aspect” make the intended progression clear. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The first body paragraph moves from competition and comfort to deforestation, then to nearby facilities without fully linking these ideas. The conclusion also introduces the idea that the proposal suits rich people, although affordability is only briefly explained earlier. Use clearer links between each claim and its supporting explanation, and make sure references such as “it” and “they” have unmistakable meanings.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “deforestation,” “facilities,” “inflation,” and “over population,” and you attempt formal phrases such as “To cap it all.” This gives you enough language to communicate the main ideas. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “competitive era,” “big apartments cost maintance will high,” and “natural disters.” Spelling errors such as “Nowadys,” “suddendly,” and “thier” also reduce precision. Some repetition of “big” and “apartments” limits flexibility. Aim to use common collocations accurately before choosing more elaborate expressions, and proofread spelling and word forms so your meaning is consistently clear.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “if government will make tall building apartments … then it would help them.” This shows an effort to express cause and effect, but some sentence patterns are not controlled accurately. For example, “it would puts bad impact” combines incompatible verb forms, while “it would will fall” contains two auxiliaries. There are also errors with articles, plurals, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “big apartments cost maintance will high.” These sometimes make the reader work to understand the intended meaning. Practise forming conditionals and checking subject–verb agreement, articles, and verb forms; then divide long sentences where several ideas are joined together.
