Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, in many cities, the number of people is increasing and more homes are required for them. Some people believe that large buildings is the best way to live there. I agree with this statement that tall buildings provide more space to live there.

The main advantage of tall building is that many people can live in a apartment that are located in a small area. In many cities, lands are too expansive and there is no space to build our own house. Moreover, tall building that are located in a city area can provides nearest several facilities such as schools, hospitals, and airports and so on. However, there is a one facility is that its easy way to buy a apartment rather than buying a home in another side where there is nor any facility provided. Although, moving in large cities can help to not travel more for jobs purpose.

On the other hand, building tall apartment have some causes, if too many people live in a certain area, hospitals, schools and their society become crowded. Some of the people want to live in a large house and spend their time in a garden those people are not able to live in such type of area. In addition, tall buildings may not provide enough space for children to play any kind of game. Therefore, tall building may not the solution of it.

In my opinion, government should built such types of large building for those people who are needed. They should build such type of building near to their job area as well as near to school and hospitals.

In conclusion, building tall apartments blocks is a good way to provide a home for people. However, its not necessary for all of them some individuals want to live in a home rather than apartments.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear in the introduction: you agree that tall buildings can provide homes, and the conclusion restates this view while acknowledging that apartments do not suit everyone. You also give relevant points about land scarcity, access to facilities, crowding and children’s play space. However, the response addresses the issue only partly because the reasons are mostly asserted rather than explained or supported with a specific example. For instance, the claim that tall buildings bring residents closer to facilities is not developed, and the drawbacks are not weighed against your overall agreement. Clarify whether you support high-rise construction as the best solution or only as one option, then explain and illustrate your main reasons more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion. This gives the reader a basic route through your ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven, and some links are unclear or mechanical. The sentence beginning “However, there is a one facility” does not clearly connect to the preceding point, while “Although, moving in large cities…” introduces an idea without completing the contrast. The second body paragraph also moves quickly from crowded services to preferences for gardens and children’s play. Use clearer topic sentences and develop one point at a time; check that linking words such as “however” and “although” express the relationship you intend.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a basic range of topic vocabulary, including “tall buildings,” “facilities,” “crowded,” and “garden,” so the main subject is generally understandable. However, vocabulary is repetitive and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “lands are too expansive” for the idea that land is costly, “nearest several facilities,” and “for jobs purpose.” The repeated use of “such type of building” also limits precision. Build a more varied set of expressions for housing, urban density and access to services, and learn them in natural combinations. More accurate phrasing would make your relevant ideas clearer without requiring more complicated vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a conditional idea (“if too many people live in a certain area”) and a concession beginning “Although.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence construction. For example, “large buildings is” should use a plural verb, “tall building … can provides” has an incorrect verb form, and “government should built” needs the base form after “should.” The sentence “Although, moving in large cities can help…” is also structurally incomplete. These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas hard to understand. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and modal patterns, and check each sentence for a complete main clause.
