Student answer (Band 6.0)
With the growth of population especially during the recent years , the high-demand for houses also rose and it is becoming a serious issue. So many argue that constructing many storey building is the best way to provide enough houses especially in large cities. I believe that this could be a solution for some cities whild it's not efficient for some areas and othe solution could take place .
The problem with big cities that they are overcrowded ,full with immigrants and people from different districts ; so citizens believe that building tall apartments block will provide more houses for them. Actually ,multipal storey buildings doesn't consume as much space as detached houses and they only necessit good archictects and precise calculations. For example, New York City is one of the most populated city and it adopted this approach to solve the housing issues.
In my opinion, I partially agree that tall apartment provide more houses as such a project needs investors and strong financement as it may cost billions . Moreover the nature of some areas can not support such building and the type of sand may cause problems while constructing or increase the costs. In addition, while water represent three quarter of the earth space why don't investors and gouverment invest and exploit seas to construct more houses. This could be efficient for coastal areas . Finally, undergrouds also could be used for building .undergrounds was used as shelters during wars so why not used as housing areas.
To sum up, many believe tall apartment blocks can provide more houses in large cities. For my perpective, this might be efficent for some countries and not for others while exploiting seas and undergrounds could be another solution.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address the question and state a qualified position: tall blocks may work in some places, but you also propose alternatives. The explanation that multi-storey buildings use less land than detached houses is relevant, and New York is offered as an example. However, the support is uneven. The cost and ground-condition points are introduced but not explained in detail, while the suggestions to build over seas or underground are speculative and lack evidence about feasibility. The conclusion repeats your position but does not weigh the options or clarify when tall blocks are preferable. Develop fewer arguments more fully, and directly compare the benefits and limitations of apartment blocks with realistic alternatives.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the main direction of the argument can be followed. You use linking expressions such as “For example,” “Moreover,” and “To sum up” to signal relationships between ideas. However, some connections feel mechanical or unclear: the move from construction costs to using seas and then undergrounds is abrupt, and the final paragraph largely repeats earlier points. The opening sentence is also crowded with several ideas. Improve progression by grouping related arguments, using each paragraph to develop one main point, and adding a clear explanation of how each example supports your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt vocabulary relevant to urban housing, including “overcrowded,” “detached houses,” “investors,” and “coastal areas,” which gives you a useful range for the topic. There are also attempts at less common wording, but inaccurate spelling and word choice reduce precision: “multipal,” “archictects,” “financement,” and “perpective” make the writing less polished. Some combinations are unnatural, such as “high-demand for houses” and “strong financement,” and “exploit seas” does not express the intended idea clearly. These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your overall argument, but they limit flexibility and accuracy. Focus on standard collocations and check spelling, especially for key topic vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple and more complex forms, including a relative clause in “the type of sand may cause problems while constructing” and a conditional idea about where tall buildings may be suitable. The overall meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “building tall apartments block” has a number/agreement problem, and “multipal storey buildings doesn't consume” mismatches the plural subject and verb. Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention, as in “the problem with big cities that they are overcrowded” and “undergrounds was used.” Commas and spacing around punctuation are inconsistent. Review subject–verb agreement, article use, and sentence construction, then proofread each sentence for a complete grammatical structure.
