Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You refer to the topic and give a broadly supportive view, especially when you say that building tall apartments is “good” and mention their lower maintenance costs. Your personal example about living in apartments also gives the response some relevant support. However, the position is difficult to identify consistently: you discuss people who prefer houses and apartments without clearly explaining how far you agree that tall blocks are the best solution. Several points, including population growth, pollution and planting, are mentioned but not explained or linked clearly to the question. The response also does not meet the required 250 words. To strengthen your answer, state your position directly, develop two relevant reasons with examples, and explain any limitations of apartment construction.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
There is a recognisable attempt to connect ideas, using phrases such as “because of” and “on the other hand,” and the response stays broadly on the housing topic. However, ideas are not arranged into clear paragraphs, and the long sequence of points makes the progression difficult to follow. The contrast between apartment living and house ownership is introduced but not organised into a clear argument. Some links are repetitive or unclear, such as repeated uses of “and also,” while references such as “this is the only reason” do not clearly identify the idea being referred to. Use an introduction, separate body paragraphs for your main reasons, and a conclusion. Shorter sentences and more precise linking would make the relationships between points easier to understand.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “over population,” “fixed assets,” “maintenance,” “rent,” and “pollution,” and you attempt to discuss costs and housing preferences. This gives you a basic range for the subject. However, vocabulary is often repetitive, particularly “apartments,” “houses,” and “people,” and frequent spelling and word-form errors make parts of the response difficult to understand. Examples include “goverment,” “apartement,” “matainence,” and “depent.” Some combinations are also unclear, such as “secure population” and “happy and best live.” Build a bank of accurate housing terms and check spelling and collocations. More precise expressions for affordability, housing supply and urban density would help communicate your ideas clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt to express reasons and contrasts, including with “because” and “while,” but most ideas are placed in long, loosely connected sentence strings rather than controlled sentence structures. Errors in verb forms and agreement are frequent, as in “goverments provides” and “houses is,” and articles and plurals are often missing or inconsistent. The sentence beginning “now days goverments provides” is difficult to follow because several clauses are joined without clear punctuation. There is little evidence of accurate complex sentence control, so meaning is sometimes obscured. Practise writing one main idea per sentence, checking subject–verb agreement and verb forms, and using full stops to separate clauses. Then add a few carefully controlled complex sentences to show relationships between ideas.
