Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
You give a clear opinion at the end, saying you “totally agree,” and you offer a relevant example about students moving to Germany for study and needing apartments. However, the response addresses the question only minimally: it does not explain why tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide enough homes, nor does it consider alternatives or develop the example. The opening claim that “both is good” is unclear and does not establish a precise position. The response is also substantially below the required 250 words, so there is not enough explanation or support to fulfil the task. Develop a consistent argument, explain how high-rise housing increases supply, and support it with specific examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: you introduce a general view, give a Germany-related example, and finish with your opinion. The example is connected to the topic, so the reader can follow the broad direction. However, the progression is difficult to track because several ideas are joined in one long sentence, and links such as “but” and “so” do not clearly show how the points relate. The opening phrase “first thing” does not lead into a clearly organised argument, while “both is good thing” leaves the comparison unclear. Use separate paragraphs for your position and supporting reasons, and connect each point explicitly to the question.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use a small set of relevant words, including “apartment,” “cities,” “student,” and “living,” which makes the general subject understandable. There is also an attempt to express a viewpoint with “in my opinion” and “totally agree.” However, vocabulary is repetitive and often imprecise, and spelling errors such as “alot,” “thast,” “thoese,” and “studnt” make the writing less clear. Phrases such as “provide a homes” and “good thing” do not express the housing argument naturally. Build topic vocabulary for housing and urban planning, and check spelling and collocations. For example, use “housing supply,” “high-rise buildings,” and “accommodation for students” where appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt to express a reason and a condition, for example, “if I walk about Germany,” and you use simple linking structures such as “so.” The intended meaning is sometimes recoverable, but sentence control is weak: “both is good thing” has problems with agreement and article use, and “its depend on country and cities” has an incorrect verb form and missing articles. The long sentence beginning “first thing” also lacks clear sentence boundaries and punctuation. Most of the response relies on basic structures, with little accurate variety. Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check articles, agreement, and punctuation before adding more complex clauses.
