Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is often argued that a large number of houses can be provided by building tall apartment blocks in cities. I strongly agree with this view because it saves space and accomodates more people and reduce housing cost in large cities.
One of the primary reasons why I support this idea is that more people can be accomodated within a relatively less space house. This is largely beacuse people do not have large houses like in high class residential areas, where people lives in relatively large houses. Consequently, they can survive their whole life in their own house. For instance, more houses and accomodation can reduce pressure on rental prices. Therefore, a large number of houses could reduce the fear of accomodation for a seprate family in city.
Furthermore, reduce housing cost is another compelling reason to support this position. In another words, people do not have enough money to purchase a high class houe in relatively wealthy housing area. This can lead to buy a relatively small home at tall apartments in cities. A clear example of this can be seen in large cities, where people accomodates in 3 ar 5 marla houses to save housing cost. Thus, building large and tall apartments in relatively big cities to provide facilities for housing.
In conclusion, I firmly beleive that private business mans should construct comparatively big buildings because low-income people can purchase a house without paying a large amount of money. These factors demonstrates why governnment also shoud do some work in cities to provide amenities for citizens.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear from the opening: you strongly agree that tall apartment blocks can help provide homes, and you give two relevant reasons—using less land and reducing housing costs. The examples about rental prices and smaller homes in large cities help connect your argument to the topic. However, the explanation is often unclear or incomplete. For example, the point that residents of smaller homes “can survive their whole life in their own house” does not clearly show how apartment blocks solve the housing shortage. The second reason also shifts between affordability and the size of homes without explaining the link in detail. Develop each reason with a clearer cause-and-effect explanation and a specific example of how high-rise construction increases supply or lowers costs.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “For instance,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. However, progression within paragraphs is not always clear, and some connections feel mechanical or do not accurately express the relationship between ideas. For example, “Consequently” introduces a claim about living in one’s own house that is not clearly supported by the preceding sentence. The conclusion repeats the position but introduces private businesses and government action without developing these points earlier. Use clearer topic sentences, connect each example directly to its reason, and ensure that pronouns and transitions make the relationships between claims explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “apartment blocks,” “rental prices,” “low-income people,” and “housing cost,” so the reader can identify the subject of your argument. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repeated, particularly “large cities,” “houses,” and “accommodation.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, such as “accomodates,” “seprate,” and “houe,” as well as unnatural combinations like “a relatively less space house” and “fear of accomodation.” These sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to follow. Build a more precise set of housing-related expressions and check spelling and collocation; for example, distinguish between housing supply, affordability, and the cost of renting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses beginning “because,” “where,” and “which,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in sentence structure, verb forms, and agreement. For example, “people lives” should use a plural verb, while “This can lead to buy” needs a different verb pattern, such as “This can lead people to buy.” The fragment “Thus, building large and tall apartments…” lacks a complete main clause, and “These factors demonstrates” has a subject–verb agreement error. Practise building complete sentences with one clear main clause, then check agreement and verb patterns. More accurate control of these basic structures would make your reasoning easier to understand.
