Student answer (Band 5.5)

These days cities are crowded with people for better life in future. The better way to provide homes for their living is to build huge buildings with multiple apartment. In this essay I will provide my view about this develpmental startegy.

I completed agree with this statement because of the chamgimg the view of the people regarding their lifestyle so rapidly. And compared with the past now from the urban areas and small cities most of families looking toward the big cities for an upgrade. Quality education of their childerns, better infrastructure, healthcare and in future getting the best job attract people from other areas to well developed cities. Thats why living in city is so expensive above all of this finding a best place to live with your feels like an impossible task for someone. So, in a small place develop a big building is a nice move to assist such migrants within better living socities.

Although, devloping buildings for accomudating these people also help them financial because if someone rent out the full house it cost almost have of his salary while living in a big building in an apartment is an edge for them. For example many workers here in Oman earn 400 OMR and if they rent out a small villa nearby their work place it cost them almost 200 OMR but on the other if government or private development build sky rocketed building here it cost them just 120 OMR with including all amenties.

In conclusion, I am completely agree with this idea not because it provide cheaer residence but also these kind of buildings provide great networking opportunity to grow.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you completely agree that tall apartment buildings are the best way to provide homes, and you give relevant reasons, including migration to cities, housing costs, and the Oman rental example. This addresses the task, but some points are more fully explained than others. The discussion of education, healthcare and jobs explains why people move to cities, rather than directly showing why tall blocks are the best solution. The cost comparison is more specific, but could be developed by explaining how high-rise construction increases the number of homes available or why it is preferable to other approaches. A brief consideration of a limitation or alternative would also make the argument more fully supported.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, supporting paragraphs and a conclusion, and the ideas generally follow a sensible order from urban migration to housing costs. The example about workers in Oman also gives the second supporting paragraph a clear focus. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The opening of the second paragraph, “And compared with the past,” is awkwardly attached to the previous point, while “Although” introduces a paragraph that does not present a contrasting idea. Some sentences contain several points joined together, making the progression harder to follow. Use clearer topic sentences and link each reason explicitly to your position; ensure contrast markers such as “although” introduce a genuine contrast.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “infrastructure,” “healthcare,” “migrants,” “salary” and “amenities,” which helps communicate the subject. However, the range and control are limited by repeated general words such as “big” and “building,” and several inaccurate or misspelled forms make the writing less clear, for example “develpmental startegy,” “chamgimg,” “accomudating” and “cheaer.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “upgrade” for improving one’s circumstances and “networking opportunity to grow.” Aim for precise collocations and check spelling carefully. For example, “high-rise apartment blocks” is more natural and specific than “huge buildings with multiple apartment.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a conditional example about rent and a concluding sentence with “not because…but also.” The main ideas are usually understandable, but some grammatical errors recur and occasionally make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Examples include “I completed agree” instead of “I completely agree,” “most of families looking” instead of “most families are looking,” and “I am completely agree” instead of “I completely agree.” There are also problems with articles, plurals and sentence construction, as in “a big building in an apartment.” Review subject–verb agreement and verb forms, and practise building complex sentences with clear clauses. More accurate control of these patterns would make your argument easier to read.
