Student answer (Band 6.0)
There is a growing belief that the most effective method to provide enough homes in urban areas is to construct tall apartment blocks. I firmly agree with this way because apartment blocks can shelter numbers of household without occupying a huge amount of space and it is much more affordable.
One major reason is that the significant amount of families can live in tall apartment blocks compare to normal housings. For example, house may only be able to provide space for single family, while skyscrapers may be able to shelter hundereds of household depending on the number of stories building have. Therefore, this will satisfy the need of homes in the large citites. At the same time, only small acres of land will be used to construct tall apartment blocks so that government can use extra land for facilities such as, school, healthcare centre and stations to give convenient lifestyle to citizens.
Price of the apartment is also the another crucial reason to build tall building blocks to provide enough homes. Urban area has always been famous for having higher living costs compare to rural area therefore, renting or selling price of the apartment room would be much more cheaper than the normal housing price. Hence, constructing apartments with numbers ot story would be the best solution to the insufficient homes problem as it will be affordable.
In conclusion, there may be alternative ways to provide homes in large cities but building tall apartment blocks would be the best methods as it only occupy little space and can be purchased with cheaper price if it is put in comparision with normal housing.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the introduction: you firmly agree that tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide homes. You give two relevant reasons—housing more families on less land and offering a more affordable option—and explain how extra land could be used for public facilities. These points address the task, but they are not developed equally: the affordability paragraph mainly asserts that apartments cost less, without explaining why or giving a concrete example. The conclusion restates your view but adds little synthesis. To strengthen the response, support each reason with a specific example or fuller explanation, and briefly acknowledge a limitation or alternative before explaining why high-rise housing remains preferable overall. This would make the argument more fully developed and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion. The progression from land efficiency to affordability is easy to follow, and signposts such as “One major reason,” “At the same time,” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. However, some linking is mechanical, and the relationship between ideas is occasionally unclear—for example, “Therefore, this will satisfy the need of homes” does not specify how the preceding comparison leads to that result. The second body paragraph also moves quickly from high urban living costs to the claim that apartments are cheaper. Use more precise referencing and explain the links between claims, rather than relying mainly on formulaic transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “urban areas,” “apartment blocks,” “facilities,” and “living costs,” which allows you to communicate the main argument. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “shelter” and “insufficient homes problem.” However, inaccurate word choice and collocation sometimes make the writing sound unnatural: “shelter numbers of household,” “normal housings,” and “the apartment room” do not express the intended ideas precisely. Spelling errors such as “hundereds,” “citites,” and “comparision” also reduce accuracy. Build a more reliable set of housing-related collocations and check spelling and word forms; this will help you express your ideas with greater precision and flexibility.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional clause in “while skyscrapers may be able to…” and a purpose clause beginning “so that government can…”. Most of the argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “a significant amount of families” needs a plural quantifier, and “house may only be able” is missing an article. Subject–verb agreement is also inconsistent in “the best methods… as it only occupy little space.” There are problems with comparative constructions in “much more cheaper” and “compare to,” as well as article use in “the another crucial reason.” Review agreement, articles, plurals, and comparative forms, then proofread each sentence. More accurate control of these patterns would make your varied sentence structures clearer.
